A film image reproducing apparatus comprises a chamber which receives a film cartridge holding a film with a magnetic recording section. A frame position detector detects a position of a frame of the film with the magnetic recording section in which an image formation is finished. The film with the magnetic recording section is transferred from the cartridge, which cartridge is in the chamber, and film transfer is stopped based on an output of the frame position detector. A reader reads recording data from the magnetic recording section while the film is being transferred. A projector projects light on the film while the film is stopped. A photoelectric converter converts a projection image of the film projected by the projector into an electrical signal. A synthesized image is reproduced from an output of the reader and from an output of the photoelectric converter.

In order to smoothly feed out, wind and rewind a film housed in a film patrone with a simple construction by rotating a spool shaft in the film patrone in correlation to the forward and backward rotation of a motor, a film transport device of a camera comprises a motor for producing an output for feeding and winding the film, a motor shaft for transmitting the output from the motor, a planetary gear mechanism serves as a differential gear mechanism for transmitting the output of the motor shaft to the spool shaft in the film patrone, and a planetary clutch mechanism as a transmission mechanism. When the spool shaft in the film patrone is driven by the film wound on the wind spool, a differential operation performed by the differential gear mechanism prevents the speed-up rotation of the motor shaft.

A multi-mode camera is provided which permits a selection from among a plurality of photographing modes including an automatic mode, a manual mode, an average photometry mode and a spotwise photometry mode. The camera includes a photographing information display which is located within a finder and which is formed by a liquid crystal display panel. A camera includes an entry member which commands spotwise photometric means to effect the entry of spotwise brightness value or values of an object being photographed. A transmitting area is formed in part of the reflector of the mirror in a manner such that light incident on the reflecting mirror in the region of the transmitting area and reflected by the rear surface of the reflecting mirror is reflected again by the rear surface of the reflector.
