A cutting machine may include a table configured to place thereon a workpiece to be cut, a cutting unit having a cutter and tiltable relative to the table, and a position determining mechanism operable for determining a position of the cutting unit at a plurality of set positions including a vertical position and a plurality of tilt positions where the cutting unit is tilted from the vertical direction. The position determining mechanism may include an operation member operable by a user, and a switching device couple to the operation member and configured to switch the position of the cutting unit to be determined between the plurality of set positions according to the operation of the operation member.

Cutting machines

In a slide type circular saw, slide bars extending parallel to each other in a front-rear direction are slidably supported by bearing parts provided in first and second holding portions. The bearing part included in the first holding portion is press-fitted therein, while the bearing part included in the second holding portion is loosely inserted therein, and the second holding portion includes a pressing member which is configured to press the bearing part of the second holding portion against an inner surface of the second holding portion in a direction perpendicular to a plane which contains axes of the slide bars.

Slide type circular saw

A cutting device includes a table for placing thereon a workpiece. A tool unit supports a cutting tool and is laterally tiltably supported on the table, so that the rotational axis of the cutting tool can be inclined relative to a horizontal direction. A positioning device includes a first positioning member and a second positioning member that can interact with each other to position the tool unit at a plurality of laterally tilted positions. At least one of the first and second positioning members can be moved to change the laterally tilted position positionable by the positioning device.

Cutting devices

A device for mounting a cover of a cutting blade to a riving knife may have an engaging member for releasably engaging at least a part of the riving knife from both sides, in a direction of thickness of the riving knife. The engaging member is manually operable without any additional tools. A device for mounting a riving knife to a table saw may include a manually operable lock member and a biasing member. The biasing member is arranged and constructed to normally bias the lock member towards a lock position. The riving knife may be divided into a first knife portion and a second knife portion. A positioning device may position the first knife portion and the second knife portion substantially within a single plate.

Mountings for riving knives of table saws

A dust-collecting device for collecting cutting chips produced by a cutting device has a separator for separating the cutting chips from the carrier air by utilizing the force of gravity upon the cutting chips. A dust container collects the cutting chips separated by the separator. The separator includes a separator body having a cutting chip discharge pipe and an air discharge pipe. After separation the carrier air is discharged upward from the separator body via the air discharge pipe. The separated cutting chips are discharge downward from the separator body via the cutting chip discharge pipe. The dust container is connected to the cutting chip discharge pipe.

Miter saw

A power tool includes a tool bit, a tool holder, a bit holding member, a bit mounting hole, a through hole, an outside opening, a bit mounting hole side opening, an engaging member, a cylindrical operating member, a movement preventing portion, a biasing member, a first engaging region, a second engaging region, and a third engaging region. As the first, the second and the third engaging regions respectively cooperate, the tool bit can be automatically secured to the bit holding member by inserting the tool bit into the bit mounting hole of the bit holding member. Mounting and removing of the tool bit can be achieved without a ring spring.

Power tool

A kickback-inhibiting device serves to inhibit a workpiece from being lifted up by a rotating cutting blade of a cutting device. The kickback-inhibiting devices include kickback-inhibiting members and a holding device. Each of the kickback-inhibiting members is movable between an operative position and an inoperative position. In the operative position, each kickback-inhibiting member is operable to engage the workpiece from an upper side in order to inhibit the workpiece from being lifted up. In the inoperative position, each kickback-inhibiting member is positioned upwardly away from the workpiece so as not to interact with the workpiece. The holding device serves to hold the kickback-inhibiting members in the inoperative positions.

Kickback-inhibiting devices for cutting devices

It is an object of the invention to provide an electric screwdriver that can efficiently transmit torque for tightening a screw and stop the torque transmission. A representative screwdriver may include a motor, first and second rotating members, a tool, a torque transmission spring and a torque transmission releasing device. The torque transmission spring transmits the rotating torque of the motor from the first rotating member to the second rotating member in order to drive the tool by closely winding around the first rotating member and the second rotating member when the motor drivingly rotates the first rotating member in a predetermined rotating direction. Further, the torque transmission releasing device moves in the axial direction of the first rotating member or the second rotating member in response to the screw-tightening torque. By such movement, the torque transmission releasing device releases the close winding of the torque transmission spring around at least one of the first rotating member and the second rotating member and releases the transmission of the rotating torque of the motor to the tool.

Screwdriver

A torque transmission mechanism includes a drive shaft () and a driven shaft (). The drive shaft rotates about an axis. The driven shaft extends along substantially the same axis as the drive shaft. A torque accumulator () serves to accumulate a rotational torque of the drive shaft and to transmit the rotational torque to the driven shaft due to a frictional force. A controller () serves to control the accumulation of the torque in the accumulator.

Torque transmission mechanisms and power tools having such torque transmission mechanisms

A representative screwdriver may comprise a motor, a body, a first spindle, a first clutch member, a tool bit, a second spindle, a second clutch member, a clutch engagement preventing member. The representative screwdriver may be selectively operated in one of a first power transmission mode and a second power transmission mode. In the first power transmission mode, the first clutch member and the second clutch member are disengaged when the reaction torque applied from the work-piece onto the tool bit exceeds a predetermined torque. In the second power transmission mode, the first clutch member and the second clutch member are disengaged when the tool bit moves a predetermined distance away from the body toward the work-piece during the screw-tightening operation. According to the representative screwdriver, the engagement and disengagement of the clutch members during the screw-tightening operation can be assuredly performed in both the operation modes.
