An LED device is provided which includes a substrate, an LED element disposed on the substrate, an inorganic glass molded body disposed at a position where all or a part of the light which is emitted from the LED element passes through, a first bonding portion that is provided in contact with the substrate and bonds the substrate and the inorganic glass molded body, and a second bonding portion provided between the LED element and the inorganic glass molded body. The LED element is shielded from the outside air by the substrate, the inorganic glass molded body and the first bonding portion. A material which forms the second bonding portion contains a condensation polymerization-type silicone resin. A distance between the LED element and the inorganic glass molded body is 0.1 mm or less.

The present invention is to provide an electrolyte membrane which retains durability even after having undergone a dimensional change accompanying chemical deterioration caused owing to radicals having high oxidizing ability such as hydroxyl radicals (.OH) or peroxide radicals (.OOH), and the selecting method thereof. An electrolyte membrane has an amount of dimensional change in a plane direction between dimensions obtained in a dry state before and after carrying out the Fenton test, the amount of dimensional change before and after the Fenton test being smaller than an amount of maximum elastic deformation in a plane direction obtained in dry state before carrying out the Fenton test, provided that the Fenton test is carried out under the following condition, and the selecting method of the same. &#x3c;Condition of Fenton test&#x3e; (1) iron ion (Fe) concentration: 4 ppm, (2) hydrogen peroxide concentration: 3 wt %, (3) boiling temperature: 80&#xb0; C., (4) boiling time: 120 minutes.

Electrolyte membrane and method of selecting the same

The present invention relates to a laminated membrane comprising a membrane (I) which comprises aromatic polymer electrolyte containing a super strong acid group and a membrane (II) which comprises one compound selected from the group consisting of electrolytes of perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid polymer and non-super strong acid polymer, and a laminated membrane comprising a membrane (III) which comprises a perfluoroalkylsulfonic acid polymer electrolyte and a membrane (IV) which comprises a non-super strong acid polymer electrolyte. The laminated membrane of the present invention is an electrolyte membrane excellent in generation performance and excellent also in the respect of mechanical strength.

Polymeric laminates, processes for producing the same, and use thereof

A polymer electrolyte membrane having outstanding water resistance and high thermal resistance, moreover having practical strength required for use as a polymer electrolyte membrane of a solid polymer electrolyte type fuel cell at low price, and a method for producing the polymer electrolyte membrane are provided. A polymer electrolyte comprising a block copolymer comprising one or more of blocks in which sulfonic acid groups are introduced and one or more blocks in which sulfonic acid groups are not substantially introduced wherein at least one block in the block copolymer is a block having aromatic rings in polymer chain, and a porous membrane, and a fuel cell using the membrane are provided. And moreover the present invention provides a method for producing a polymer electrolyte membrane comprising the steps of, (i) impregnating some of pores of a porous membrane with a solution (1) of a polymer electrolyte having a contact angle of less than 90&#xb0; to said porous membrane, (ii) impregnating a remaining part in the pores of the porous membrane with a solution (2) of a polymer electrolyte having a larger contact angle than that of the solution (1) to said porous membrane, and (iii) removing a solvent.

Polymer electrolyte membrane and fuel cell

Provided is a polymer electrolyte containing a block copolymer comprising one or more blocks having sulfonic acid groups and one or more blocks having substantially no sulfonic acid group, and at least one block among all blocks is a block having aromatic rings in the main chain thereof, and a method for producing the same. The polymer electrolyte is suitable for a proton conductive film of a fuel cell due to excellent water resistance and heat resistance, and high proton conductivity.

The polymer electrolyte is soluble in solvents and has excellent film forming property and recycling efficiency.

Polymer electrolyte and process for producing the same

A polymer electrolyte comprising a sulfonated polyethersulfone having an ion-exchange group equivalent weight of 870 to 5000 g/mol, which is obtainable by sulfonating a polyethersulfone having the structural unit represented by the following structural formula, ##STR1## The polymer electrolyte is cheap, easily mold-processable by virtue of soluble property in organic solvent and thermoplastic property, easily film-processable, highly water-resistant, and suitable for a fuel cell.

Provided is a polymer electrolyte which is cheap and easily synthesized, and has a high water resistance and high output performance. The polymer electrolyte comprising a sulfonated polymer having an ion-exchange group equivalent weight of 500 to 2500 g/mol, which is obtainable by sulfonating a structural unit represented by the structural formula (II) of a copolymer having 95 to 40 mol % of a structural unit represented by the following structural formula (I) and 5 to 60 mol % of a structural unit represented by the following structural formula (II), ##STR1##

A non-aqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery, comprising a cathode containing, as active material, a material that can be doped/undoped with lithium ions, an anode containing, as active material, a carbonaceous material that can be doped/undoped with lithium ions, a separator interposed between the cathode and anode and an electrolyte prepared by dissolving lithium salt in an organic solvent, wherein the anode contains a polymer having carbonate groups represented by the structural formula �I!: ##STR1## said polymer having a number average molecular weight of not less than 300 and not more than 200,000. The lithium secondary battery has cycle life and high-rate capacity which are improved without reducing low-temperature capacity.

Non-aqueous electrolyte lithium secondary battery

A process for producing an aromatic polyamide film comprising forming a thin layer of an optically isotropic dope in which an aromatic polyamide is dissolved in a polar amide, immersing the thin layer dope in a polar solvent kept at a temperature not higher than -20.degree. C. to coagulate the dope to form a film and drying the film in the presence of an isocyanate compound. Said process can produce directly a transparent film from an aromatic polyamide dope without requiring the step of dissolving the aromatic polyamide in conc. sulfuric acid, does not require any acid resistant equipment and is inexpensive.
