In the vehicle structure for mounting an air-cooled internal combustion engine, a crankcase is supported by a body frame in such a manner that crankcase hanger bosses on the crankcase are joined to the body frame via crankcase hanger plates. A cylinder head has left and right cylinder head hanger seating surfaces formed perpendicular to a left-right horizontal direction by cutting out right and left symmetric areas close to side edges of left and right side faces of the cylinder head along with parts of cooling fins. One ends of left and right cylinder head hanger members are fastened respectively to cylinder head hanger attaching seats on which the left and right cylinder head hanger seating surfaces of the cylinder head are formed. The other ends of the left and right cylinder head hanger members are fastened individually to the body frame. The structure is capable of using an engine body itself to improve stiffness of a body frame without use of any particular reinforcing members.

Vehicle structure for mounting air-cooled internal combustion engine

A lubrication structure is provided for supplying lubricating oil to a transmission of an engine. The engine includes a mission holder which includes a power transmission mechanism between a main shaft and a countershaft as a unit and is removably mounted in a mission chamber, and a clutch chamber having a clutch mechanism is provided adjacent the mission chamber for transmitting rotation of a crankshaft to the transmission. Two oil introduction ports are provided on the mission holder, which is between the clutch chamber and the mission chamber. The two oil introduction ports enable the two chambers to communicate with each other. Each of the oil introduction ports has an opening provided therein which opens upwardly on a clutch chamber side of the mission holder.

Lubrication structure for engine

A transmission for an internal combustion apparatus is provided in which a parking lock mechanism is commonly formed with an upstream side portion of a power transmission system of a shift change mechanism, whereby the number of parts is reduced and the parking lock mechanism is compactly incorporated therein to achieve miniaturization of the internal combustion engine. The transmission in which a shift change mechanism performs a shift change in response to an operation of a gear selecting apparatus is configured to include a parking lock mechanism which is driven in an interlocking relationship with a working portion of the shift change mechanism, and if the shift change mechanism is set to the parking position, then a rotary shaft of the transmission is locked against rotation by the parking lock mechanism thereby restricting rotation of the rotary shaft.

Locking transmission for a vehicle, and vehicle including same

To provide a layout structure of a clutch lever shaft capable of realizing compact layouts of a whole power unit in which a starter centrifugal clutch and a transmission manual multi-plate clutch are provided, and of a whole vehicle on which the power unit is mounted. A centrifugal clutch shaft and a manual multi-plate clutch shaft are disposed in parallel. The clutch lever shaft of the manual multi-plate clutch is disposed orthogonally and substantially vertically upward in relation to a pressing direction of a friction plate in a vicinity of an end portion of a lifter pin. The clutch lever shaft is disposed between the centrifugal clutch and the manual multi-plate clutch when viewed from a top of the power unit.

A water-cooled internal combustion engine includes a water pump having a short pump drive shaft for reducing the weight and size thereof. In a water-cooled internal engine equipped with a clutch at the end of a crankshaft, a water pump having a water pump drive shaft parallel to the crankshaft is disposed on the axial inside of the clutch, that is, on a central side of the crankshaft.

Water-cooled internal combustion engine

A water-cooled internal combustion engine configured so as to facilitate the change of the cooling system, thereby reducing costs. The crankcase of the water-cooled internal combustion engine is adapted to journal a crankshaft. The crankcase is covered by a crankcase cover from the axial outside. The crankcase is connected to the crankcase cover through an annular shaped spacer, and at least part of a water pump is formed integrally with the spacer.

A lubricating system for an internal combustion engine includes a recovery pump by which a lubricating oil dropping to and dwelling in a bottom portion of a crankcase after lubricating individual portions of the internal combustion engine is sucked through a pump suction port opened in the bottom portion of the crankcase and is fed to a lubricating oil tank. A supply pump is provided for supplying the lubricating oil from the oil tank to the individual portions of the internal combustion engine. The lubricating tank is integral with the crankcase and is partitioned from a crank chamber by a partition wall projecting from the inside wall of the crankcase. The lubricating system includes an overflow oil passage through which the lubricating oil that flows over the upper edge of a partition wall of the lubricating tank is led to a suction port of the recovery pump.

Lubricating system for internal combustion engine

A lubricating system for an internal combustion engine includes lubricating oil recovery oil passages through which lubricating oil dropping to and dwelling in a bottom portion of a crankcase after lubricating individual portions of an internal combustion engine is fed to a lubricating oil tank through an oil cooler by a recovery pump. Lubricating oil supply oil passages supply the lubricating oil from the lubricating oil tank to the individual portions of the internal combustion engine needing lubrication and cooling through an oil filter by a supply pump. The lubricating system includes a branch passage branched from the lubricating oil recovery oil passage communicating from the oil cooler to the lubricating oil tank. The branch passage supplies the lubricating oil to at least one of the individual portions of the internal combustion engine.

A speed change drive shaft is disposed at a position on the upper side of a static oil hydraulic type non-stage transmission and in parallel to the axis of the transmission. A plane connecting the axis of the speed change drive shaft and the axis of the transmission does not intersect with the axis of the crankshaft, and intersects with the axis of the cylinder center axis of the cylinder block at a position on the lower side of the axis of the crankshaft while making an acute angle with the axis of the cylinder center axis of the cylinder block.

A swash plate plunger type hydraulic motor is constituted such that plungers are slidably disposed in respective plunger holes of a motor cylinder, and a motor rolling member having a motor swash plate member is supported in a motor casing in such a manner that it can tilt and roll. A swash plate tilting angle detector for detecting the angle of a swash plate includes an angle detector mounted to a transmission housing and a rotation connection mechanism for connecting the motor rolling member to the angle detector. The rotation connection mechanism includes a first connection rod which is connected to the motor rolling member coaxially to its tilting and rolling axis, a second connection rod connected to the angle detector, and a movable or universal joint for connecting the first connection rod to the second connection rod. The described motor provides a swash plate tilting angle detector which has a high degree of freedom of installation position and permits the displacement of the center position thereof without affecting detection accuracy.

A shift position detection apparatus for a variable speed gear wherein a shift shaft is moved in an axial direction to perform a speed changing operation. A variable speed gear includes a clutch sleeve disposed for movement in an axial direction on a counter shaft with a shift shaft disposed so as to extend in parallel to the counter shaft. A shift fork is coupled and attached to the shift shaft and has an end engaged with the clutch sleeve. The clutch sleeve is moved in the axial direction through the shift fork to select a shift position. A shift position detection apparatus includes F, R and N shift detection portions provided on the shift fork. The F shift detection portion and the R shift detection portion are spaced by approximately 60 degrees in a circumferential direction on substantially the same plane perpendicular to the axis of a cylindrical portion.

Shift position detection apparatus for variable speed gear

A hydraulic continuously variable transmission includes a swash plate plunger pump, a swash plate plunger motor, and a closed hydraulic circuit for connecting them to each other, wherein a motor pivoting member is supported by a motor casing so as to be pivotally movable, with the swash plate angle being variably adjustable, to simplify the configuration of a swash plate as much as possible and to widen the swash plate angle range. An inner race of a ball bearing for supporting a transmission output shaft, to which a pump cylinder and a motor cylinder are connected, so that the transmission output shaft is rotatable relative to the motor casing is formed by cutting off an end face portion in the axial direction, on the side of facing the motor pivoting member.

Hydraulic continuously variable transmission

To reduce the projection of a swash plate servo mechanism in the radial direction, and to make a hydraulic continuously variable transmission compact, a swash plate plunger pump includes a pump casing provided with an input driven gear. A pump cylinder and a motor cylinder are connected to a transmission output shaft, and a motor pivot member provided with a motor swash plate member is supported to be pivotally movable. A motor servo mechanism includes a ball screw shaft, a ball nut to which an end portion of the motor pivot member is connected, and a swash plate control motor to rotate the screw shaft. A swash plate control motor, located on the side of a hydraulic pump relative to the input driven gear, is mounted to the outside surface of a transmission housing close to the center axis side of a transmission output shaft.

A hydraulic continuously variable transmission with a fixed displacement type swash plate plunger pump and a variable displacement type swash plate plunger motor are connected to each other through a closed hydraulic circuit. A motor pivot member is supported to be pivotally movable in a support member. The motor pivot member includes an upwardly extending arm portion. The tip end of the arm portion is movable in the axial direction by a motor servo mechanism, to pivotally move the motor pivot member. A transmission housing is provided with an auxiliary portion surrounding the motor servo mechanism and the tip of the arm portion, and a servo motor is mounted to a side surface on one end side, in the direction of the axis of rotation of an output shaft. A side of the housing auxiliary portion, opposite the servo motor, includes an identification number display portion.
