An apparatus for determining whether polygons which form objects defined by graphic data generated by CAD intersect with virtually generated light rays. Polygons which are not intersected are removed from the graphic data as unnecessary for the generation of CG data. An apparatus is also described in which path passage points which pass through an animation path within a virtual world are interactively set. If an object exists that interferes with a path that joins adjacent path passage points, an alternate route path which detours around the interfering object is generated. An apparatus is also described in which a path of a moving object is interactively set on a perspective view of the virtual world as viewed from one direction. The position of the set path in the virtual world is calculated, and the position of the path in the direction of viewing is corrected to a position that is removed from an object by a prescribed distance.

A computer graphics apparatus includes a walk-through function to simulate with a computer the concept of walking through a structure such as a building. Display processing time and calculation processing time for one frame of a computer graphic image are improved by an input unit which receives a viewline moving instruction to move a viewline of a computer image. A viewline control unit determines positions and directions of the viewline while a storage unit stores computer graphics data including three-dimensional data of objects, walk-through attribute data and viewline data. An image generation unit then generates images including animated images based on the position of the viewline and the computer graphics data. The resultant images are then displayed on an image display unit.

Computer graphics apparatus having an improved walk-through function

A three-dimensional graphic apparatus generates a three-dimensional image using computer graphics, in which the positional relationship between matters, such as furniture in a three-dimensional image, can be changed readily and accurately. A moving object indication unit indicates one of the matters in the three-dimensional image as an object matter. A search direction indication unit indicates a search direction of a base polygon constituting a base matter coming into contact with the object matter, from a notice point of a line of sight. A base polygon search unit selects, from among polygons located on a straight line extending from the notice point in the search direction, a polygon closest to the notice point as the base polygon. An object polygon selection unit selects an object polygon, which is a polygon to be brought into contact, from among polygons constituting the object matter. A neighboring unit rotates the object matter so that the object polygon will be parallel to the base polygon and moves the object matter so that the object polygon will be parallel to the base polygon and moves the object matter so that the object polygon and the base polygon lie on the same plane.

Three-dimensional graphic apparatus simplifying neighboring arrangement

A computer graphics data display device and method simplify a movement interference calculation by use of an interference attribute of an object, and control a process time by predicting a display time of a frame. Furthermore, the number of simultaneously calculated moving objects is restricted to speed up the calculation, and a retrieving process can also be performed at a high speed using display data obtained by compressing editing data. If any change has arisen in the editing data, only change data are transmitted to a display data memory unit, and the editing data and the display data are concurrently processed. Thus, dynamic images can be successfully displayed with reality.

An image processing unit generates a virtual environment or an artificial reality by displaying a necessary image in accordance with movement of a view direction of a person on a head mounted display and comprises a sensor, an image processing portion, and a display. The sensor detects a view direction and generates a view vector, and the image processing portion comprises a view direction movement discriminator, a priority degree allocator, and a partial update portion. The view direction movement discriminator calculates a view direction movement vector from the difference from the two fetched view vectors. The priority degree allocator generates a projection vector by projecting the view direction movement, determines a priority degree at each divided section of the display screen to be higher when the projection vector approaches and to withdraw from the center of the display screen to a periphery along the projection vector; and the partial update portion updates the display of the display screen in each divided section in accordance with the priority degree.
