A backup assistance system for a vehicle. The system includes a backup control module configured to restrict at least one of vehicle backup speed, acceleration, and jerk when a field of view of one or more backup sensors is restricted.

Vehicle backup assistance system

A method for setting activation parameters for a vehicle safety system of a subject vehicle. The method includes determining whether a collision between a subject vehicle and an object is imminent or in progress. Whether the collision will be a front small overlap collision is determined, and activation parameters of a vehicle safety system are set in a front small overlap collision mode if the collision is determined to be a front small overlap collision.

Systems and methods for detecting a collision

The present teachings provide for an active steering system for controlling a vehicle. The system can include at least one sensor and a control module. The at least one sensor can be configured to detect a leading obstacle. The control module can be configured to receive a signal from the at least one sensor, to determine a steering profile, and to execute a lane change maneuver based on the steering profile. The steering profile can include a plurality of steering angles and corresponding vehicle positions for maneuvering the vehicle from a current lane to an adjacent lane. The steering angles can be calculated to not increase the acceleration of the vehicle above an occupant comfort threshold value and to not cause the vehicle to cross an outer boundary of the adjacent lane.

Active steering safety system

An advanced driver assistance system of a vehicle for performing one or more driver assistance features includes an environmental sensor, a driving status monitor, an activation switch, and a driver assistance controller. The environmental sensor detects an environment surrounding the vehicle. The driver status monitor monitors the driver and determines an abnormal situation of the driver. The activation switch is operable by the driver for activating or deactivating the driver assistance features. The driver assistance controller performs the one or more driver assistance features for controlling the vehicle based on a target behavior, where the target behavior is defined based on the environment surrounding the vehicle. The driver assistance controller activates the driver assistance features when the driver status monitor detects the abnormal situation with the activation switch set to deactivate.
