A polyarylene sulfide resin composition which yields a molded article with excellent toughness, as well as a molded article and an optical ferrule, which are produced using the polyarylene sulfide resin composition. In a polyarylene sulfide resin composition containing a polyarylene sulfide resin and silica particles, a specific amount of a polyarylene sulfide resin having a melt viscosity of 35 to 80 Pa·s, and a specific amount of silica particles having a lower content of coarse powders with a particle size of 45 μm or more are employed.

A polyarylene sulfide-based resin composition is disclosed containing a polyarylene sulfide-based resin A, an inorganic filler B, and olefinic copolymers C and D each having predetermined structural units, wherein: the inorganic filler B contains a fibrous inorganic filler B1 having a different diameter ratio of 1.5 or less and a fibrous inorganic filler B2 having a different diameter ratio of 3.0 or more; a mass ratio B1/B2 of the fibrous inorganic filler B1 and the fibrous inorganic filler B2 is 0.2 or more and 5.0 or less; and the contents of the olefinic copolymers C and D are respectively 3 parts by mass or more and less than 19 parts by mass and 3 parts by mass or more and 30 parts by mass or less with respect to 100 parts by mass of the polyarylene sulfide-based resin A.

A polyarylene sulfide resin composition characterized by comprising a polyarylene sulfide resin, and an olefinic copolymer comprising an &#x3b1;-olefin-derived structural unit and an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-unsaturated acid glycidyl ester-derived structural unit, wherein the olefinic copolymer content is at least 1.0 parts by mass and less than 5.0 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the polyarylene sulfide resin, a melt viscosity of the polyarylene sulfide resin measured at 310&#xb0; C. and a shear rate of 1216 secis at least 70 Pa&#xb7;s and at most 300 Pa&#xb7;s, and a flow length for a width of 20 mm and a thickness of 1 mm, at a cylinder temperature of 320&#xb0; C., an injection pressure of 100 MPa and a mold temperature of 150&#xb0; C., is at least 80 mm and at most 200 mm.

Polyarylene sulfide resin composition and insert molded article

A method is provided for obtaining a polyarylene sulfide resin composition with a low chlorine content, which has high fluidity and high quality and produces less burrs. Specifically, a method is provided wherein a polyarylene sulfide resin composition is produced by melting and mixing (A) a polyarylene sulfide resin, (B) an inorganic filler, and (C) an alkoxysilane compound. In this method, (A) a polyarylene sulfide resin having a melt viscosity of 80-400 Pa&#xb7;s (at a temperature of 310&#xb0; C. and a shear rate of 1200/sec) and a chlorine content of 1000-2000 ppm is supplied from a raw material feed port of a specific extruder, and then extruded at two kneading parts within the range of [shear rate (1/sec)&#xd7;kneading time (sec)=1600-6000], thereby producing a polyarylene sulfide resin composition having a melt viscosity of 150-330 Pa&#xb7;s (at a temperature of 310&#xb0; C. and a shear rate of 1200/sec) and a chlorine content of not more than 950 ppm.
