A self-assembled monolayer is formed on the surface of a molded article without roughening the surface of the molded article to thereby perform treatment for preventing a biochemical substance from being adsorbed, for example, on a microchip substrate, and imparting functionality of immobilizing a biofunctional molecule thereto. The surface of a cyclic olefin resin molded article, for example, a microchip substrate, is irradiated with vacuum ultraviolet light having a center wavelength of 172 nm from an excimer lamp to activate a portion serving as a flow channel in the substrate. Next, the molded is immersed in a tank filled, for example, with a fluorine compound solution, and a SAM film that is a self-assembled monolayer is formed on the surface activated by ultraviolet radiation.

A microchip includes a reagent placement area to fix an anaerobic antibody therein. An inlet and outlet of the microchip that communicate with a channel having the reagent placement area are closed by thin plate sections and a sealing member. The sealing member is made from a silicone gel and possesses a self-repairing capability. To supply the reagent to the microchip, a fluid releasing unit having an aperture and a fluid recovering unit having an aperture are caused to penetrate the thin plate sections and the self-repairable sealing element, and enter a space including the reagent placement area. The free end of the fluid releasing unit is shaped like an injection needle, and the aperture serves as a fluid release opening. A method for forming a titanium oxide film that can be formed on a surface of a base material without a heating step. In Step, a surface of a molded product (base material) composed of a cyclic olefin-based resin is irradiated with ultraviolet light in an air atmosphere. In Step, the base material is immersed in a mixed liquid of an aqueous solution of titanium chloride and a nitrite ion-containing aqueous solution.
