A method for classifying a rollover event of a vehicle is used to classify a rollover event on the basis of a rotational angle and a rotation rate of the vehicle and to transmit an emergency call as a function of the classification. The rollover event itself is recognized on the basis of a momentum or energy criterion. The rotation rate is summed to determine the rotational angle, the summed rotation rate as well as the rotation rate being compared to classification boundaries as a pair of values in order to perform a classification. The emergency call is made only if the restraint devices have been deployed.

A device that is easy to assemble and not subject to wear has an induction coil in the seat back of the motor vehicle seat. This induction coil is inductively coupled to the guide rod of the head restraint that is movably supported in the seat back.

An apparatus for noncontact transmission of signals between a steering wheel and a steering column includes an airbag triggering device and a diagnostic device on the steering wheel side. The diagnostic device monitors the function of the airbag triggering device and transmits its diagnostic signal via a rotary transfer unit to a control device located on the steering column side. A simulation circuit, which can be set as a function of the diagnostic signal to the diagnosed resistance of the triggering device, precedes the control device on the steering column side.
