A computing device may determine one or more characteristics of a gaming application executing at one or more processors of the computing device. The computing device may determine a gameplay state of the gaming application executing at the one or more processors based at least in part on the one or more characteristics. The computing device may adjust, based at least in part on the state of the gaming application, a target frame rate of image data outputted by the gaming application for display at a display device. The computing device may output, based at least in part on the adjusted target frame rate, the image data for display at the display device.

A computing device may include one or more dynamically configurable user input devices. In one example, a triggering event, such as, for example, a user input at a user interface of the computing device, may be detected in connection with an application running on the computing device. In response to the detected triggering event, individual elements of the user interface, such as, for example, keys of a keyboard, may be configured, and/or re-configured, to correspond to the input received and/or the application running on the computing device.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for implementing a dynamic space bar are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes the actions of determining, by a computing device that includes a touchscreen keyboard and trackpad, a context of the computing device. The actions further include receiving touch input on the trackpad. The actions further include designating, by the computing device and based on the previously-determined context of the computing device, the touch input on the trackpad to be a selection of a space bar of the touchscreen keyboard. The actions further include providing, for output to a display of the computing device and based on the computing device having designated the touch input on the trackpad to be a selection of the space bar, an indication of the selection of the space bar.

A keyboard may include a plurality of keys, at least one light source configured to illuminate the plurality of keys, and a controller. The controller may be configured to control a color and/or an intensity of light emitted by the at least one light source based on a time of day and/or a type of an application running on a computing system receiving input from the keyboard.

The portion of the file system of the second computing device may be mounted on the first computing device based on the received information.

Sharing protected user content between devices

A computing device includes a housing, a processor, memory, a human interface device (i.e., a keyboard or a trackpad), and a biometric sensor integrated into the housing. The biometric sensor is configured for capturing biometric data (i.e., heartbeat data or a vein scan) from one or more of hands of a user of the device while the user's fingers are interacting with the human interface device. The memory stores executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing device to: compare the captured biometric data to one or more records of biometric data associated with the user; determine, based on the comparison, whether the captured biometric data satisfies a matching condition with the one or more records of biometric data; and authenticate the user, when the captured biometric data satisfies the matching condition.

A portable computing device may include a lid and a base. The lid may include a display and a camera on a front side of the lid. The base may include a keyboard on a top side of the base and a processor inside the base. The processor may be coupled to the display, the camera, and the keyboard. The processor may be configured to determine that the front side of the lid is rotating toward the top side of the base, and instruct the camera to capture at least a first photograph and a second photograph based on the determination that the front side of the lid is rotating toward the top side of the base.

In one general aspect, a method can include determining that a display monitor is operatively connected to a display port included in an operating system (OS) dongle, identifying at least one peripheral device operatively connected to the OS dongle, receiving, by the OS dongle, an indication of requested content from the at least one peripheral device, and responsive to receiving the indication of the requested content, obtaining the requested content from a computer system remote from the OS dongle. The obtaining can include operatively connecting the OS dongle to a network. The network can be operatively interfaced to the computer system that includes the requested remote content. The method can include providing, by the OS dongle, the requested content to the display monitor using the display port.

In one general aspect, a main printed circuit board (PCB) card can include a System on a Chip (SoC) configured to run an operating system stored on the main PCB card, at least one dynamic random access memory (DRAM) device and at least one non-volatile memory device each configured for use by the SoC, and at least one connector. The main PCB card can be configured to be interchangeably interfaced with multiple types of shell computing devices by way of a slot included in a shell computing device. The slot can be configured to accommodate the main PCB card. Each type of shell computing device can be of a different form factor. The wireless interface may be configured to send and receive signals to and from at least a first computing system and a second computing system. The memory may be configured to store text. The hinged attachment of the lid to the base may enable the lid to rotate from a first lid position in which the display faces the keyboard, to a second lid position in which a second side of the lid faces a second side of the base. A hinged attachment of the cover to the base may enable the cover to rotate from a first cover position, in which a first side of the cover faces the keyboard, to a second cover position in which a second side of the cover faces the second side of the base.
