Photoreceptor and method of making same

The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to an imaging member having an outermost layer formulation that includes wax particles which creates a rough surface morphology for the layer and imparts increased scratch resistance, reduced torque, and improved cleaning performance to the layer. In embodiments, the outermost layer is an overcoat layer used for an improved imaging member having a substrate, a charge transport layer, and an overcoat positioned on the charge transport layer.

A method includes admixing a plurality of fluoropolymer chains, a plurality of basic metal oxide polymers, and a plurality of organic grafts. Each of the plurality of organic grafts includes a phenol end group, a linking group, and at least one silane end group. The phenol end groups of the organic grafts are reacted with the plurality of fluoropolymer chains to form a silane functionalized fluoropolymer.

A photoreceptor with a substrate, a charge generating layer, a charge transport layer including N,N,N'N&#x2032;-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1&#x2032;-biphenyl)-4,4&#x2032;-diamine, having a purity of from about 95 percent to about 100 percent, and a protective overcoating layer, optionally including a hole transport material other than N,N,N&#x2032;N&#x2032;-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1&#x2032;-biphenyl)-4,4&#x2032;-diamine, that will discharge from about 85% to about 100% of its surface potential in from 0 to about 40 milliseconds upon being subjected to xerographic charging and exposure to radiant energy of from about 1 erg/cmto about 5 ergs/cm.

Overcoat layers, which may be useful for reducing torque in electrophotographic photoreceptors, are provided. The overcoat layers include a polymer matrix having a particulate inorganic lubricant and a particulate fluoropolymer uniformly dispersed therein.
