A system for detecting and analyzing electrical activity in the anatomy of an organism underlying an electrode array provides signals corresponding to electrical activity adjacent each electrode. Such signals are correlated to the underlying anatomy of the organism and representative outputs presented through various types of output devices. Such outputs may include variations in coloration or other qualities in correspondence with representations of underlying anatomical structures. The system includes electrode structures and methods for producing and attaching electrode arrays to the organism. The exemplary form of the invention is used in connection with the diagnosis of muscle activity in the lower lumbar regions of humans. Levels of muscle activity detected are analyzed by correlation with the muscular structures underlying the electrode array. Forms of the invention may be used in other applications.

Tubing connector

A trash receptacle including a container having a variable upper periphery to hold the opening of a plastic trash bag in tension and to ease the removal of a full bag of trash from the container. In one embodiment, the container has a peripheral frame having spaced apart ribs or protrusions, a slider bar mating with the spaced apart protrusions, a spring disposed intermediate the frame the slider bar to urge the slider bar away from the frame, thereby holding a plastic trash bag in a secure and open position within the trash receptacle. In another embodiment, a vertical section of the container is biased away from the main body of the container by gravity or springs. Thus, when the bag is placed within the container and wrapped around the lip of the container, the upper periphery of the vertical section is biased away from the upper periphery of the main body to hold the opening of the trash bag in tension.

Trash receptacle with expandable rim

A tubing connector has first and second tubular legs joined together to provide a continuous fluid pathway therethrough with the fluid pathway having a bend of about 78 to 102 degrees therein. A foreshortened retention tab extends laterally from the tubing connector at about the bend in a direction opposed to the second leg of the tubing connector. A handle extends from the tubing connector at about a right angle to both the first and second legs and the retention tab. The tubing connector may be employed as a component of a fluid delivery set used with a pump for enteral or parenteral feeding of a patient.

A fluid delivery set has three lengths of flexible tubing. The first length of flexible tubing at one end is connectable to or integral with a supply container for enteral or parenteral fluid, and at the other end is connected to the inlet of a drip chamber. The second length of flexible tubing is connected at one end to the outlet of the drip chamber, and at the other end to the inlet of a retention/connector device that has about a 90.degree. bend therein. The third length of flexible tubing is connected at one end to outlet of the retention/connector device, and at the other end is connectable to or integral with a means for introducing an enteral or parenteral fluid into the body of a patient. Preferably, a tension responsive pinch valve is operatively associated with the second length of flexible tubing.

Fluid delivery set

A connector mate/demate tool provides remote coupling and decoupling of connector sections with a rotating locking ring on one section of the connector and where the other section is rigidly attached to some fixture. The tool mates the connector sections by first searching for a key-slot engagement of parts while exerting a small longitudinal force and then rotating the locking ring until the two sections are secured. Demating is accomplished by rotating the locking ring in the reverse direction and pulling the two connector sections apart.
