A method for controlled installation of a brush filament population on a shaft for making a toner adder brush roller includes applying a layer of adhesive over a surface of a roller shaft, applying a template over at least a portion of the shaft surface, and flocking a multiplicity of filaments on the shaft surface to provide a brush on the roller shaft having a filament population controlled by the application of the template. The method also includes removing the template from the shaft surface after flocking the multiplicity of filaments such that a set of filaments less than the multiplicity of filaments is removed with the template. The method further includes flocking additional filaments on the portion of the shaft surface after removing the template from the portion of the shaft surface, the additional filaments differs from said previously flocked filaments in one of material, length, denier, or combinations of the foregoing.

Toner adder brush roller and method for controlled installation of brush filament population

An apparatus and process are provided for forming a tubular article. A tube holder is mounted to a support stand via an automatic alignment device. A tubular metal sleeve is placed in the tube holder. A coating material is provided. A bullet-shaped or spherical element is passed through the metal sleeve such that the element runs along an inner circumferential surface of the metal sleeve. The automatic alignment device allows the metal sleeve and the tube holder to level themselves such that the element is substantially aligned with the metal sleeve as the element moves through the metal sleeve. The element spreads the coating material generally evenly along the inner circumferential surface of the metal sleeve as the element passes through the metal sleeve.

Process and apparatus for forming a tubular article

An intermediate toner transfer belt includes an endless member made of a layer of a material having an endless functional surface adapted to transfer a toner image. The layer of material is textured so as to define a multiplicity of protruding portions of the material spaced apart from each other and integral with and extending outwardly from a remaining base portion of the material. The protruding portions have outer tips spaced apart from one another with outer surfaces thereon also spaced apart from one another such that the endless surface of the endless member is formed by the spaced apart outer surfaces of the outer tips of the protruding portions of the material. Further, the protruding portions are irregular in pattern and shape relative to one another and generally undulate toward and away from the remaining base portion of the material.

A drive roller having a polyurethane coating that has a coefficient of friction with respect to a belt effective to drive the belt over the operative life of the belt. The drive roller may be included in an image-forming device to drive a belt.

Polyurethane coatings and drive rollers including the same

Provided is a release agent composition useful in an electrophotographic process. The composition is comprised of certain heat-stable grafted silicone interpolymers. The interpolymers have a melting point such that it is in the form of a liquid on a hot fuser roll, but solidifies to a waxy solid at room temperature. The compositions of the invention were found to reduce transparency streaking in wiper pad systems and when used in felt roll applications, were found to be equal to silicone oil in transmission ratio and transparency streaking. Accordingly, the release agent compositions are especially efficacious in duplex and transparency printing. The release agent compositions of the present invention also exhibit superior release performance and facilitate clean release of toner from fuser rolls in an electrophotographic imaging process.

Release agent composition

An ink composition comprises a colorant and an additive. The additive is selected from the group consisting of first dispersants synthesized from an aromatic mercaptan, a hydrophilic monomer, a hydrophobic polymeric reactant having a siloxyl substituent and a first stabilizing reactant; second dispersants synthesized from a non-aromatic mercaptan, a hydrophilic monomer, a hydrophobic polymeric reactant having a siloxyl substituent, and a second stabilizing reactant selected from the group consisting of nonylphenoxy (PEG),methacrylate, nonylphenoxy (PPG),methacrylate, nonylphenoxy (PEG),acrylate, nonylphenoxy (PPG),acrylate and mixtures thereof; humectant mixtures comprising a bis-hydroxy terminated thioether, a lactam, and a compound selected from the group consisting of polyalkylene glycols, polyol/alkylene oxide condensates and mixtures thereof; and mixtures thereof.
