Systems, methods and computer readable media for live interactions in persistent conversations are described. In some implementations, a method can include receiving a communication message sent from a first user to a second user, wherein the communication message includes initiation of a live interaction. The method can also include generating a live interaction user interface element for display as part of a persistent conversation interface. The method can further include storing a representation of the live interaction in a conversation content section of a persistent conversation object when the live interaction ends. The method can include updating conversation state information of the persistent conversation object to reflect the receiving of the communication message and the storing of the representation.

Live interaction in persistent conversations

A method, computer program product, and computer system for receiving, at a computing device, a call from a first telephony device using a telephone number associated with a second telephony device and a web-based user account. An indication of the call is received at the computing device where the web-based user account is signed into. An input is received at the computing device to accept the call. A conferencing application session associated with the web-based user account is initiated at the computing device between the first telephony device and the computing device based upon, at least in part, receiving the input to accept the call.

Initiating a video conferencing session

A method and computing system for providing, using one or more computing devices, a plurality of users of a social network with the ability to schedule a topic-specific, synchronous communication session to occur at a future time. An indication is received, from a first user of the plurality of users, to schedule the topic-specific, synchronous communication session to occur at a future time. Electronic invitations are provided concerning the topic-specific, synchronous communication session, using the one or more computing devices, to one or more invited users chosen from the plurality of users of the social network.

A mechanism for automatically detecting and controlling active multimedia applications is provided. Software is installed on a computing device that detects a plurality of active multimedia sources, and then determines that one or more of the plurality of active multimedia sources accept remote control of one or more multimedia features. A software multimedia user interface, including graphically displayed interactive volume controls for the detected multimedia sources, is displayed and configured to enable a user to remotely control the respective audio levels of each detected multimedia program by graphic manipulation of respective interactive volume controls.

A method and computing system for defining a group of participants for a videoconference. A request is received from a first participant of the videoconference to initiate an image capture utility, wherein the first participant is included within the group of participants. At least a portion of the group of participants is notified of the intent of the first user to initiate the image capture utility.

Content sharing system and method

Systems and methods for notifying users of upcoming communication sessions in a virtual forum of an online community, for example, a video or audio forum, in which multiple users 'hang out' and communicate. Users are notified of these upcoming meetings in advance, so they may participate in them, even at short notice, for example, in the event a meeting is ongoing. In some embodiments, the systems and methods permit users to subscribe to a particular entity within an online community, which may either be individuals (for example, a celebrity), company pages, groups, etc. Those who subscribe to the particular entity are immediately notified in the event a meeting relating to the entity is designated to occur or is ongoing.

A method and computing system for defining a group of participants for a videoconference. A first video conferencing image is captured for a first participant of the videoconference, wherein the first participant is included within the group of participants. The first video conferencing image is stored within a first private folder associated with the first participant and a public folder associated with the group of participants. A second video conferencing image is captured for a second participant of the videoconference, wherein the second participant is included within the group of participants. The second video conferencing image is stored within a second private folder associated with the second participant and the public folder associated with the group of participants.

Methods, systems and computer programs are presented for generating media tabs for playing media files of various websites or applications. One method includes detecting a selected website through a browser and scanning the selected website to identify media files. For identified media files in the selected website, the method creates a media tab for association with the browser. The method generates a unified set of media controls for the media tab, where the unified set of media controls is mapped to native controls of the selected website having the media files. The method provides tab rendering data for the media tab. The tab rendering data is configured for associating the media tab with the browser. The tab rendering data, when associated with the browser, enables input at the media tab to be communicated to selected ones of the native controls, without accessing the native controls at the selected website.

A device receives, from an online provider device, content of a website and connection information associated with the website, and provides the content of the website for display to a user. The device also receives, from the user, information requested by the website and a request to provide the information to the online provider device, and determines whether the information includes sensitive information. The device further provides the information to the online provider device, based on the request, when the information does not include sensitive information, and determines, when the information includes sensitive information, whether the website is safe or unsafe based on the connection information. The device provides a warning for display to the user, when the information includes sensitive information and when the website is an unsafe website, where the warning indicates that sensitive information is to be transmitted to the unsafe website.

Browser-based prevention of unsecure online transmission of sensitive information

Disclosed herein are methods and systems for displaying alerts in a web browser. An alert repeater is configured to receive an alert from an alert provider. A geographical determiner is configured to determine an effective geographical area for the alert. The alert repeater sends the alert over a browser update communication channel to an alert receiver in a web browser within effective geographical area. The alert receiver then displays the alert in the web browser.

Browser-based alerting system

Methods and systems for managing ordering of media items for play is provided. The method includes establishing a session between two or more connected devices, and receiving a request from one of the connected device to create a shared media playlist. The shared media playlist accepting addition of a plurality of media items from at least one of the connected devices. Then, collecting vote input from one or more of the connected devices. The vote input is applied to selected ones of the plurality of media items in the shared media playlist. The method processes the collected vote input to set a score for at least one of the plurality of media items. The method orders the plurality of media items in the shared media playlist, such that playing of the plurality of media items during the session follow the ordering.
