The disclosed embodiment relates to an injection device that is a single patient use, disposable device containing a needle and a cartridge containing a drug, pharmaceutical product or other injectable agent. The device is initially provided in a pre-armed state in a first engagement configuration wherein the needle is separated from the septum of a cartridge. To arm the injection device, the professional urges the device from the first engagement or pre-armed configuration to a second engagement or armed configuration wherein the needle pierces the septum and provides a sterile fluid path to the drug, pharmaceutical product or other injectable agent contained within the cartridge. The disclosed embodiment is particularly adaptable to dental anesthetic applications, as well as other medical and veterinary applications.

The present disclosure provides electrodes that possess hydrogels for contacting skin. In embodiments, an electrode of the present disclosure may include a substrate and a conductive composition on at least a portion of a surface of the substrate, the conductive composition including at least one hydrogel and at least one component capable of providing either a cooling or warming sensation upon electrical stimulation. Methods for forming these hydrogels and electrodes are also provided.

A safety needle assembly is disclosed which includes a a needle assembly and a needle guard. The needle guard is supported about a needle of the needle assembly and is positioned to engage an enlarged diameter portion of the needle during withdrawal of the needle guard from the needle to effect an inversion of the needle guard about a sharpened tip of the needle.

A method for coupling an ECG monitor with an incompatible ECG lead set includes the steps of providing an ECG adapter including an adapter body having at least one monitor connector adapted for coupling to an input of an ECG monitor and at least one lead set receptacle adapted for coupling to a connector of an ECG lead set incompatible with the input of the ECG monitor, coupling the at least one monitor connector of the adapter body with the input of the ECG monitor and coupling the at least one lead set receptacle of the adapter body with the connector of the ECG lead set to thereby electrically couple the ECG lead set with the ECG monitor.

An automatic external defibrillator configured to deliver electrical pulses and/or shocks to a heart of a patient during a cardiac emergency includes a housing supporting an electrical connector; a defibrillator electrode delivery system supported on the housing and a pair of defibrillation electrode pads supported by the defibrillator electrode delivery system. Each of the pair of defibrillation electrode pads is pre-connected to the electrical connector of the housing. A hydrogel layer of each defibrillation electrode pad is retained by the defibrillator electrode delivery system in such a manner so as to reduce a moisture vapor transmission rate thereof.

A needle and receiver assembly for use with a syringe cartridge filled with medicine includes a cartridge receiver having a hollow interior, an open end sized for receiving at least part of the syringe cartridge, and a closed end opposite the open end. The assembly includes a needle mounted on the receiver having a fluid passage extending between a sharp delivery tip at a distal end of the needle and a sharp access tip at a proximal end of the needle opposite the delivery tip positioned inside the hollow interior of the receiver. The assembly includes a cutter movably mounted in the hollow interior of the receiver for movement relative to the receiver and the needle to cut the diaphragm of the cartridge when received in the hollow interior of the receiver.

Medical cartridge receiver having access device

A garment is used to facilitate the placement of biomedical sensors or other electrodes on the body. The garment is comfortable and allows freedom of movement much like typical clothing. Textile based electrical components are included in the garment which are capable of transmitting an electrical signal to and from various external electrodes placed on the body. A textile based EMI shield protects the signals from electromagnetic interference. The garment may take any form such as a vest, sports bra, long sleeve shirt, bonnet, or other form and may provide access to an electrode placement site without requiring removal of the garment.

Physiological sensor placement and signal transmission device

An intravenous catheter and safety needle assembly is disclosed which includes a catheter assembly, a needle assembly and a needle guard. The needle guard is supported within a hub of the catheter and is positioned to engage an enlarged diameter portion of a needle of the needle assembly during withdrawal of the needle from the catheter assembly to effect an inversion of the needle guard about a sharpened tip of the needle.

An ECG lead set assembly including a lead set hub and a retractable reel assembly retained within the lead set hub. The retractable reel assembly includes a reel member adapted for rotation within the lead set hub and an electrode lead wrapped about the reel member and having an electrical conductor for connecting to an electrode for receiving biopotential signals from a patient. The electrode lead is extendable from the reel member upon rotation within the lead set hub.

The lead set hub includes at least one receptacle configured to receive the plug connector of the ECG electrode assembly.
