Processes for converting C8 aromatic hydrocarbons. In some embodiments, the process can include feeding a gaseous hydrocarbon feed that can include meta-xylene, ortho-xylene, or both into a conversion zone. The process can also include contacting the gaseous hydrocarbon feed with a catalyst that can include a ZSM-11 zeolite in the conversion zone under conversion conditions to effect isomerization of at least a portion of any meta-xylene, or at least a portion of any ortho-xylene, or both to produce a conversion product rich in para-xylene. In some embodiments, the ZSM-11 zeolite can have an alpha value of 1 to 3,000 and a molar ratio of silica to alumina of from 15 to 200.

Processes for converting C8 aromatic hydrocarbons

Novel MEL framework type zeolites can be made to have small crystallite sizes and desirable silica/SiOmolar ratios. Catalyst compositions comprising such MEL framework type zeolites can be particularly advantageous in isomerization C8 aromatic mixtures. An isomerization process for converting C8 aromatic hydrocarbons can advantageously utilize a catalyst composition comprising a MEL framework type zeolite.

Sulfiding process for aromatic transalkylations

This disclosure relates to a method for rejuvenating a catalyst, comprising contacting the catalyst with a gaseous feedstock at rejuvenation conditions for at least one hour to form a rejuvenated catalyst and a gaseous product, wherein the catalyst comprises at least 10 wt. % of a molecular sieve, wherein the catalyst prior to the contacting step comprises from 0.001 wt. % to 45 wt. % of hydrocarbons and 0.001 to 10 wt. % nitrogen containing components based on the total weight of the catalyst prior to the contacting step, wherein the molecular sieve comprises at least one of a MCM-22 family molecular sieve, a molecular sieve having a framework type of *BEA, a molecular sieve having a framework type of FAU, and a molecular sieve having a framework type of MOR, wherein the gaseous feedstock comprises at least one of N, H, alkane, He, Ar, CO, and CO, wherein the gaseous product has at least a portion of the gaseous feedstock and at least a portion of the hydrocarbons of the catalyst and at least a portion of the nitrogen containing components of the catalyst, wherein the rejuvenation conditions comprise a temperature in the range from about 400 to 600&#xb0; C., a pressure in the range from about 101.3 kPa-a to 10130 kPa-a, a space hourly velocity in the range of from 0.05 to 10 hr.

Process for rejuvenating a catalyst composition

The present invention provides a process for regenerating a spent aromatics alkylation or transalkylation catalyst comprising a molecular sieve by contacting the spent catalyst with an oxygen-containing gas at a temperature of about 120 to about 600&#xb0; C. and then contacting the catalyst with an aqueous medium, such as an ammonium nitrate solution, an ammonium carbonate solution or an acid solution.

Aromatics alkylation

There are provided a catalyst, a method for making this catalyst, and a process for using this catalyst in the alkylation of an isoparaffin with an olefin to provide an alkylate. The catalyst may be made from an as-synthesized material which, upon calcination, is capable of generating zeolites designated MCM-22. The as-synthesized material is then combined with a binder material, such as alumina, by an extrusion process. The uncalcined bound material may then be ammonium exchanged, followed by a calcination treatment. The as-synthesized material may also be swollen with a suitable swelling agent, such as a cetyltrimethylammonium compound, prior to the binding process.

Catalyst and process for isoparaffin-olefin alkylation

There is provided a method for preparing an alumina bound, zeolite catalyst, wherein a zeolite of low silanol content is used as the source of zeolite used to prepare the catalyst. A particular zeolite used in this catalyst is zeolite Y. This catalyst may be combined with at least one hydrogenation component and used to hydrocrack hydrocarbons, such as gas oils. In particular, an NiW/USY/alumina catalyst may be used in a hydrocracking reaction to produce distillate boiling range hydrocarbons from higher boiling hydrocarbons.

Low sulfur gasoline of relatively high octane number is produced from a catalytically cracked, sulfur-containing naphtha by hydrodesulfurization followed by treatment over an acidic catalyst system comprising a zeolite having the topology of ZSM-5 and a zeolite sorbing 10 to 40 mg 3-methylpentane at 90.degree. C., 90 torr, per gram dry zeolite in the hydrogen form, e.g., ZSM-22, ZSM-23, or ZSM-35. The treatment over the acidic catalyst system in the second step restores the octane loss which takes place as a result of the hydrogenative treatment and results in a low sulfur gasoline product with an octane number comparable to that of the feed naphtha.

Gasoline upgrading process

Low sulfur gasoline of relatively high octane number is produced from a catalytically cracked, sulfur-containing naphtha by hydrodesulfurization followed by treatment over an acidic catalyst comprising a zeolite sorbing 10 to 40 mg 3-methylpentane at 90.degree. C., 90 torr, per gram dry zeolite in the hydrogen form, e.g., ZSM-22, ZSM-23, or ZSM-35. The treatment over the acidic catalyst in the second step restores the octane loss which takes place as a result of the hydrogenative treatment and results in a low sulfur gasoline product with an octane number comparable to that of the feed naphtha. The use of the specified zeolite provides greater desulfurization, gasoline selectivity, and octane than obtained using ZSM-5.

There is provided a catalyst comprising MCM-36 and a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation component. A particular example of such a catalyst comprises MCM-36, nickel and tungsten.
