Laminated resistive heaters comprising a carbon nanotube layer are described. The invention also includes methods of making laminated resistive heaters and applications using the resistive heaters.

Carbon nanotube thin film laminate resistive heater

A method of coating a carbon nanotube material with a solventless coating composition is described. The resulting coating has been shown to preserve the conductivity of the conductive layer and protect the conductive layer from the effects of subsequent coating compositions. Examples are shown in which the coating formulation comprises a polyol and an isocyanate. A layer material comprising a polyurethane coating on a carbon nanotube network layer is also described.

Solventless methods of coating a carbon nanotube network and carbon nanotube networks coated with a polymer

A corrosion resistant primer coating comprises one or more corrosion inhibiting additives; and one or more nonaqueous resins, and the method of making and using the primer coating. The corrosion inhibiting additive comprises metal ferrate(IV) compounds, metal ferrate(V) compounds, metal ferrate(VI) compounds, or a mixture thereof (collectively called the ferrate compound). The ferrate compound has a low solubility in water in the range of about 0.001 ppm to about 2000 ppm at a temperature in the range of about 0&#xb0; C. to 71&#xb0; C. A method of making the metal-1 ferrate compound suitable for the corrosion resistant primer coating comprises steps of (a) dissolving a highly soluble metal-1 salt in water, (b) dissolving and mixing an alkali metal ferrate compound and a metal-2 hydroxide in water, (c) adding the solution of step (b) to the solution of step (a) to form a preproduct, wherein the preproduct comprises the metal-1 ferrate compound; (d) filtering and washing the preproduct with one or more solvents to obtain the metal-1 ferrate compound; and (e) drying the metal ferrate compound in a low moisture environment to obtain the dried metal-1 ferrate compound; wherein the metal-1 ion and the metal-2 ion are the same or are different from each other.

Corrosion resistant primer coating

A series of resins were synthesized using a range of bio-based materials to control the molecular architecture, and therefore the properties, of the inventive resins. The utility of these resins was demonstrated in the formulation of powder coatings, such as &#x3b2;-hydroxy amide crosslinked and hybrid types. Generally, the bio-based resins flowed out on heating faster than conventional petrochemically-based resins, allowing the use of lower temperatures in the curing oven than is typically possible and a more active catalyst system, especially in the carboxylic acid-epoxy crosslinked hybrid coating formulations.

An aqueous coating composition comprising an active hydrogen-containing polymer, an isocyanate, and beta-hydroxyalkylamide is disclosed. The polymer can be any number of polymers containing hydroxyl, amine and/or thiol groups, such as an acrylic polyol, a polyester polyol, and mixtures thereof. The hydroxylalkylamide has been shown to decrease the time in which the coating achieves hardness and, in the case of the polyester polyol system, increases the hardness that is achieved. The present compositions also provide resistance to chemical exposure. Methods for coating a substrate and the substrates coated thereby are also disclosed.
