A power transmission fluid comprising a mixture of a major amount of a lubricating oil and an effective amount of a performance enhancing additive combination comprising: (a) at least one organic phosphate having the structure R &mdash;X &mdash;P(:X )(R X )&mdash;X&mdash;R where R , and R may independently be substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or cycloalkyl having 1 to 24 carbon atoms and X, X , X and X may independently be sulfur or oxygen. R and R may also contain substituent hetero atoms, in addition to carbon and hydrogen, such as chlorine, sulfur, oxygen or nitrogen; wherein R is derived from a reactive olefin and can be either CH &mdash;CHR&mdash;C(:O)O&mdash;R ; &mdash;CH &mdash;CR HR ; or R &mdash;OC(:O)CH &mdash;CH&mdash;C(:O)O&mdash;R where R is H or the same as R , R , R , R and R are the same as R and R is a phenyl or alkyl or alkenyl substituted phenyl moiety, the moiety having from 6 to 30 carbon atoms, (b) a calcium detergent, and (c) a friction modifier.

Power transmission fluids of improved anti-shudder properties

A zinc-free lubricating composition for lubricating a continuously variable transmission is disclosed, the lubricating composition comprising a mixture of a major amount of a lubricating oil and an effective amount of a performance enhancing additive combination comprising: (a) an ashless polyisobutenyl succinimide dispersant; (b) at least one organic thioether phosphite; (c) a calcium phenate overbased detergent at a concentration such that the total amount of calcium in the fluid is less than about 500 ppm; (d) friction modifiers comprising one or more succinimides and one or more ethoxylated amines; and (e) a primary amide of a long chain carboxylic acid.

Zinc-free continuously variable transmission fluid

A zinc-free lubricating composition for lubricating a continuously variable transmission, the lubricating composition comprising a mixture of a major amount of a lubricating oil and an effective amount of a performance enhancing additive combination comprising: (a) an ashless dispersant; (b) at least one organic phosphite; (c) a calcium detergent; (d) one or more friction modifiers selected from the group consisting of: succinimides and ethoxylated amines; and (e) a primary amide of a long chain carboxylic acid.
