Described herein are improved configurations for a wireless power transfer. The parameters of components of the wireless energy transfer system are adjusted to control the power delivered to the load at the device. The power output of the source amplifier is controlled to maintain a substantially 50% duty cycle at the rectifier of the device.

Tunable wireless power architectures

A wireless power system for powering a television includes a source resonator, configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field, and at least one television component attached to at least one device resonator, wherein the at least one device resonator is configured to wirelessly receive power from the source resonator via the oscillating magnetic field when the distance between the source resonator and the at least one device resonator is more than 5 cm, and wherein at least one television component draws at least 10 Watts of power.

Wireless power transmission system enabling bidirectional energy flow

A quantum state measurement system includes a quantum state generator that generates an optical photon comprising a quantum state. A spectral converter modifies a spectrum of the optical photon and provides the optical photon comprising the quantum state with the modified spectrum. An optical switch switches the optical photon with the modified spectrum to one of a plurality of outputs. A measurement system determines a fidelity of the quantum state of the optical photon with the modified spectrum. A control system provides an electrical control signal to the quantum state generator in response to the determined fidelity of the quantum state that improves a fidelity of at least some subsequent generated optical photons comprising a quantum state that are generated by the quantum state generator after the optical photon.

A control architecture for electric vehicle wireless power transmission systems that may be segmented so that certain essential and/or standardized control circuits, programs, algorithms, and the like, are permanent to the system and so that other non-essential and/or augmentable control circuits, programs, algorithms, and the like, may be reconfigurable and/or customizable by a user of the system. Reconfigurable control architectures and algorithms for electric vehicle wireless energy transfer systems

An optical quantum state converter comprises an optical fiber input port configured to receive an optical signal comprising an optical quantum state at a first wavelength from an optical source. An optical combiner having a first input is coupled to the optical fiber input port. An optical pump source having an output that is coupled to a second input of the optical combiner provides an optical pump signal at a pump signal wavelength to a second input of the combiner. A nonlinear optical waveguide having an input that is coupled to an output of the optical combiner converts the optical quantum state at the first wavelength to an optical quantum state at a second wavelength determined by the optical pump signal.

A wireless energy transfer system includes a foreign object debris detection system. The system includes at least one wireless energy transfer source configured to generate an oscillating magnetic field. The foreign object debris may be detected by at least one field gradiometer positioned in the oscillating magnetic field. The voltage of the at least one field gradiometer may be measured using readout circuitry and a feedback loop based on the readings from the gradiometers may be used to control the parameters of the wireless energy source.

The disclosure features apparatus, methods, and systems for wireless power transfer that include a power source featuring at least one resonator, a power receiver featuring at least one resonator, a first detector featuring one or more loops of conductive material and configured to generate an electrical signal based on a magnetic field between the power source and the power receiver, a second detector featuring conductive material, and control electronics coupled to the first and second detectors, where during operation, the control electronics are configured to measure the electrical signal of the first detector and compare the measured electrical signal of the first detector to baseline electrical information for the first detector to determine information about whether debris is positioned between the power source and the power receiver.

This application includes a source for a wireless power transfer system including: sensing and measurement circuitry configured to process signals associated with a source resonator and a source impedance matching network including a tunable component; a PWM generator coupled with power transistors of an amplifier coupled with the source impedance matching network, wherein the PWM generator is configured to control a driving signal to drive the source resonator using the power transistors; and a controller coupled with the sensing and measurement circuitry to receive measured signals, wherein the controller is configured to control a component value or an operating point of at least one of the tunable component(s), and the controller is configured to modify operation of the PWM generator based on the measured signals to modify at least a phase of the driving signal while changing power delivered to the source resonator.

Described herein are improved configurations for a wireless power transfer. Described are methods and designs to reduce and manage heating and heat dissipation in resonator structures. Configuration and orientation of magnetic material as well as heat sinking material with respect to the dipole moment of the resonator is used to reduce and control thermal properties of the resonator structure and reduce the effects of heating on the performance of wireless power transfer.

Described herein are improved configurations for an apparatus that may include a plurality of resonators electrically interconnected and arranged in an array to form a composite resonator for wireless power transfer, each one of the plurality of resonators may include a block of a magnetic material having a conductor wire wrapped around a cross section thereof to form at least one loop enclosing an area substantially equal to the cross section, wherein the plurality of resonators are may be oriented so that a dipole moment of each one of the plurality of resonators is aligned with a dipole moment of each other one of the plurality of resonators.

Object and motion detection in wireless power transfer systems

Techniques herein provide wireless energy transfer to audio devices such as headphones, headsets, hearing aids, and the like. Audio devices are integrated with a device resonator. The device resonator may be positioned and oriented to reduce interaction with lossy or sensitive components of the audio device. A repeater resonator and/or a source resonator is integrated into a headrest of a seat or a chair providing continuous power to the headphones while in use. The audio devices may be recharged wirelessly when positioned near source resonators that may be embedded in pads, tables, carrying cases, cups, and the like.
