A disease management system, methods, and devices are shown and described. In one embodiment, the system includes an infusion pump and a remote controller with the ability to be paired to each other. A method to verify a wireless connection between an infusion pump and a remote controller is shown and described herein. In a further embodiment, a method to verify a wireless connection between an infusion pump and a remote controller is provided. In addition, a method of operating a diabetes management system is provided in which the system includes an infusion pump and at least a remote controller.

Systems and methods to pair a medical device and a remote controller for such medical device

A diabetes management system and method used to manage the blood glucose level of a diabetes patient. The system includes at least one portable electronic device and a database system. The portable electronic device allows the patient to input different types of data into the processor to calculate insulin and carbohydrate intake recommendations for the patient. A time/date stamp is individually generated and stored for each type of data inputted by the patient. The diabetes management system also includes a database system which stores (i) activity data associated with the physical activity of the patient, (ii) blood glucose data associated with the blood glucose level of the patient, (iii) meal intake data associated with the food intake of the patient, and (iv) insulin intake data associated with the insulin intake of the patient.

Implantable sensor and system for measurement and control of blood

An in vivo implantable sensor obtains spectra of body fluid constituents and processes the spectra to determine the concentration of a constituent of the body fluid. The sensor includes an optical source and detector. The source emits light at a `plurality of different, discrete wavelengths, including at least one wavelength in the infrared region. The light interacts with the body fluid and is received at the detector. The light at the plurality of different wavelengths has a substantially collinear optical path through the fluid with respect to each other. When measuring fluid constituents in a blood vessel, such as blood glucose, the light at the plurality of different wavelengths is emitted in a substantially single period of time. The spectra is corrected for artifacts introduced from extraneous tissue in the optical path between the source and the detector. The sensor is fully implanted and is set in place to allow plural measurements to be taken at different time periods from a single in vivo position. The light source emits at at least three different wavelengths.

A gas laser having a housing including a discharge region that contains a lasing gas medium, a pair of DC electrodes having primary surfaces facing toward the discharge region, the primary surfaces being arranged in substantially parallel planes, and a pair of RF electrodes having secondary surfaces facing toward the discharge region, the secondary surfaces being in substantially parallel planes with the secondary surfaces being arranged substantially orthogonal to the primary surfaces. The gas laser also has an RF power source connected between said pair of RF electrodes and selectively generating an RF discharge in the discharge region, and a DC power source connected between said pair of DC electrodes and selectively generating a DC discharge in the discharge region.
