An input device includes: a plurality of sensor electrodes disposed in a sensing region of the input device; and a processing system configured to operate a first subset of the plurality of sensor electrodes in a multi-frequency parallel transcapacitive sensing manner to obtain a first capacitive touch profile. Operating the first subset of the plurality of sensor electrodes in the multi-frequency parallel transcapacitive sensing manner to obtain the first capacitive touch profile includes: operating a first plurality of sensor electrodes of the first subset as transmitter electrodes, including driving the transmitter electrodes with sensing signals of two or more different frequencies; operating a second plurality of sensor electrodes of the first subset as receiver electrodes, including obtaining resulting signals via the receiver electrodes corresponding to the sensing signals; and obtaining the first capacitive touch profile based on the obtained resulting signals.

System and method for parallel sensing in a touch sensor

A capacitive sensing input system includes sensor electrodes disposed in a sensor electrode pattern and a processing system. When under a low ground mass (LGM) condition, proximity-sensing pairs of electrodes formed by a first selective pairing of the sensor electrodes have an increased sensitivity to a presence of an input object in comparison to LGM-sensitive pairs of electrodes formed by a second selective pairing of the sensor electrodes that are primarily sensitive to the LGM condition. The processing system is configured to, while under the LGM condition, determine a first LGM term using a mutual capacitance sensing with a first of the LGM-sensitive pairs of electrodes, obtain a first transcapacitance sensing signal for a sensing element formed by a first of the proximity-sensing pairs of electrodes, and generate an LGM-corrected transcapacitance sensing signal by correcting the first transcapacitance sensing signal using the first LGM term.

Low ground mass correction for capacitive imaging sensors

A system and method for capacitive sensing comprise acquiring first capacitive sensor data and second capacitive sensor data from a plurality of sensor electrodes, and determining positional information from one or more input objects based on the first capacitive sensor data and the second capacitive sensor data. The plurality of sensor electrodes are driven with transcapacitive sensing signals for capacitive sensing during one or more transcapacitive sensing blocks to acquire the first sensor data. Further, the plurality of sensor electrodes are operated for absolute capacitive sensing during one or more absolute capacitive sensing blocks to acquire the second capacitive sensor data.

System and method for generating corrected sensor data

An input device including a sensing region is disclosed. The input device includes: sensor circuitry configured to: operate, during a first timeslot, electrodes as a first cluster; and operate, during a second timeslot, the electrodes as a second cluster, where the electrodes are aligned with an axis, and where at least one of the electrodes operates as a transmitter in the first cluster and as a receiver in the second cluster; and determination circuitry configured to: determine a first set of signal values associated with a first set of electrodes in the first cluster; determine a second set of signal values associated with a second set of electrodes in the second cluster; and generate a profile for the sensing region based on the first set of signal values and the second set of signal values, where the profile reflects an input object in the sensing region.

Capacitive sensing acquisition schemes

A system and method for capacitive sensing comprise acquiring first capacitive sensor data and second capacitive sensor data from a plurality of sensor electrodes, and determining positional information from one or more input objects based on the first capacitive sensor data and the second capacitive sensor data. The plurality of sensor electrodes are driven with transcapacitive sensing signals for capacitive sensing during one or more transcapacitive sensing blocks to acquire the first sensor data. Each of the transcapacitive sensing signals is based on a respective one of a plurality of codes. Further, the plurality of sensor electrodes are operated for absolute capacitive sensing during one or more absolute capacitive sensing blocks to acquire the second capacitive sensor data.

A method and apparatus for dynamically rescanning an array of sensor electrodes of an input device. The input device performs a first scan of the array over a plurality of iterations to acquire a frame of sensor data, where a different subframe of the sensor data is acquired from each iteration of the first scan. During each iteration of the first scan, the input device compares the subframe of sensor data acquired from the iteration with a respective subframe of sensor data acquired prior to the iteration. In some implementations, the input device may selectively repeat one or more iterations of the first scan based on the comparison.

Dynamic rescan to reduce landing artifacts

A processing system configured for capacitive sensing includes sensor circuitry with functionality to acquire an absolute capacitive profile for sensor electrodes, and acquire a transcapacitive image using the sensor electrodes. The processing system is configured to create a first estimate of common mode noise using the absolute capacitive profile and the transcapacitive image, determine a location lacking an input object in the transcapacitive image using the first estimate of common mode noise, create a second estimate of common mode noise based on the location and the transcapacitive image, determine positional information of the input object using the second estimate of common mode noise, and process the positional information.

Mitigating common mode display noise using hybrid estimation approach

A processing system for an input device includes a sensor module coupled to first sensor electrodes and second sensor electrodes. The sensor module includes sensor circuitry and is configured to acquire mutual capacitive measurements between the first sensor electrodes and the second sensor electrodes, and acquire absolute capacitive measurements of the first sensor electrodes and the second sensor electrodes. The processing system further includes a determination module configured to determine a projection from the mutual capacitive measurements and a profile from the absolute capacitive measurements, and determine a low ground mass correction factor based on a good ground value, the projection, and the profile.
