A method of making a feed-thru connector assembly includes inserting a conductor within an opening within a housing of a pulse generator and dispensing a sealant in a gap between the conductor and portions of the housing adjacent to the conductor that define the opening of the housing and curing the sealant to form a seal comprising a polyisobutylene cross-linked network.

Polymeric feed-thru for chronic implantable devices

A medical electrical lead includes an insulative lead body extending from a distal region to a proximal region and a conductor disposed within the insulative lead body and extending from the proximal region to the distal region. An electrode is disposed on the insulative lead body and is in electrical contact with the conductor. The medical electrical lead also includes a cross-linked hydrophilic polymer coating disposed over at least a portion of the electrode. The cross-linked hydrophilic polymer coating includes a fibrous matrix comprising a plurality of discrete fibers and pores formed between at least a portion of the fibers and a hydrophilic polyethylene glycol-containing hydrogel network disposed within the pores of the fibrous matrix.

Lubricious, biocompatible hydrophilic thermoset coating using interpenetrating hydrogel networks

In one embodiment, an implant includes a body member, a first arm member and a second arm member. The body member is formed of a first material and has a first side portion and a second side portion. The body member has a first stiffness and includes multiple apertures through the body member. The first arm member is formed of a second material and is coupled to and extends from the body member. The second arm member is formed of the second material and is coupled to and extends from the body member. The first arm member and the second arm member have a second stiffness, the second stiffness being more than the first stiffness.

Methods of treating tissue of a patient, e.g., tissue of an organ such that the bladder, are described. The methods may comprise inserting a medical device within the bladder; and injecting a composition to separate a first layer of tissue from a second layer of tissue. The composition may comprise at least one polysaccharide compound having a concentration ranging from approximately 0.05% to approximately 25% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the composition. The composition may at least partially separate the first layer of tissue from the second layer of tissue. At least one of the first layer of tissue or the second layer of tissue may be a detrusor muscle tissue.

Lubricious one-part hydrophilic coatings

Thermoplastic polymer compositions, films, continues, closures, laminates can comprise a modified vinyl polymer said modified polymer having a moiety comprising a cyclodextrin compound. The cyclodextrin compound, locked into the polymer structure, can absorb impurities, permeants, or other undesirable volatile materials. The cooperation between the cyclodextrin grafted onto the thermoplastic polymer and the polymer structure can provide barrier properties to a film, web or other polymer structure. A permeant or a contaminant can be complexed or trapped within the polymer and held within the film or Web preventing the permeant or contaminant from passing into the interior of a container or enclosure.

Polymers of fluorinated monomers and acrylate and alkyl acrylates are disclosed which demonstrate improved performance as coatings for implantable devices. Such coatings may, for example, be used to release a bioactive agent from the medical device. One specific application lies in drug-eluting coatings for stents.

Fluoropolymer-based medical implant coating compositions

According to an aspect of the present invention, at least one ionic therapeutic agent is delivered from an implantable or insertable medical device that comprises an ion-conductive polymeric region that is disposed on a metallic region. The metallic region is in electrical contact with a dissimilar metallic region, such that a galvanic current is generated by the dissimilar metals when the device is implanted or inserted into a patient. Delivery of the ionic therapeutic agent from the ion-conductive polymeric region may be, for example, either accelerated or retarded by the galvanic current. According to another aspect of the present invention, implantable or insertable medical devices are provided which comprise: (a) a first metallic region having a first corrosion potential, (b) a second metallic region in electrical contact with the first metallic region and having a second corrosion potential that is greater than the first corrosion potential, and (c) a solid ion-conductive polymeric region, comprising an ion conducting polymer and an ionic therapeutic agent, disposed on the first metallic region, the second metallic region, or both.

A flexible plastic thermally conductive multilayer semiconductor mounting pad having a highly thermally conductive bulk layer with thermally conductive surface skin layers bonded integrally to opposed major surfaces thereof. The bulk layer and the surface skin layers are each filled with a finely divided thermally conductive particulate, with the skin layers being harder than the bulk layer and being blended with an amount of filler which is less than that present in the bulk layer.
