A contact assembly includes a contact organizer having a central axis. A plurality contacts are secured to the contact organizer. The contacts are arranged as differential pairs. The contacts have mating segments and termination segments extending from the mating segments. The mating segments extend along the central axis. The termination segments are configured to terminate to corresponding wires. The mating segments of each differential pair of contacts are radially offset from the central axis of the contact organizer. Wire holders are coupled to the contact organizer. The wire holders have openings extending therethrough and are configured to receive wires. The wire holders are configured to terminate the wires to the termination segments of the contacts when the wire holders are coupled to the contact organizer.

Contact assembly for electrical connector

The invention provides a modular housing assembly system having a first housing assembly and second housing assembly. The first housing assembly has first contacts mounted thereon. The first contacts have elongated contact sections. The second housing assembly has second contacts mounted thereon. Each of the second contacts has more than one resilient contact sections spaced apart from each other along the longitudinal axis of the second contact. As the first housing assembly and the second housing assembly are moved into engagement, at least one resilient contact section of each of the second contacts are positioned in electrical engagement with the elongated contact sections of the first contacts. This configuration of the first contacts and second contacts allows the first contacts to make electrical engagement with second contacts of housing assembly or second contacts of housing assembly even though the housing assemblies have different configurations which causes the second contacts to be positioned at a different height than second contacts.

Low profile contact

A connector assembly configured to engage a mating connector. The connector assembly includes a plug body that has loading and mating ends and a central axis extending therebetween. The mating end is configured to be inserted into a cavity of the mating connector to establish at least one of communicative and power connections. The plug body has an outer surface that surrounds and faces away from the central axis. The connector assembly also includes a ring that is slidably mounted over the plug body. The ring is configured to slide along the outer surface of the plug body in an axial direction between withdrawn and locked positions. The connector assembly also includes a sleeve member that is slidably mounted over the plug body and the ring. The sleeve member includes a plurality of fingers that extend toward the mating end and are biased toward the outer surface of the plug body. The ring is configured to engage the fingers and the fingers are configured to flex away and engage the mating connector.
