Various methods, systems, and/or processes are described herein that can operate on a minimally energized power level to detect motion and paths of motion within an environment. A device suitable for carrying out these operations may include an energization optimization logic which can be responsible for selecting a floorplan, identifying access points associated with the floorplan, determining identities, such as persons, located within the floorplan, and tracking their motion. Once this information is gathered, the logic determines a reduced power configuration and passes it to various access points in the floorplan area to reduce the energy consumption based on the configuration. This allows for energy optimization while still maintaining the tracked motion of the identities within the floorplan. The logic allows for efficient power usage in areas with high traffic flow, while still maintaining the quality of service for the identities within the space, which can change dynamically over time.

Predicting mobility paths with minimally selective transceiver energization

Devices, systems, methods, and processes for managing network devices through generated predictions and associated confidence levels are described herein. Networks within a floorplan can be operated at full capacity all day in an inefficient way when not adjusted due to traffic patterns and seasonality changes. Data related to the topology of the network, along with historical data can be utilized to generate predictions of various network needs. For example, the overall network throughput capacity needs may be predicted for a series of points in the future. An associated confidence level can be generated as well including one or more confidence intervals. These can be utilized to select a future need for the network and generate a corresponding sustainable network configuration for the network devices and/or their transceivers that can provide sufficient network needs while minimizing the overall power used. This can be automated over time once trust has been established.

Client-aware floorplan management with predicted confidence levels

In one embodiment, a device sends data traffic to a gateway of a backhaul mesh network via a first wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network. The device maintains, while associated with the first wireless access point, an association with a second wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network by sending a frame to the first wireless access point that is relayed by the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point. The device makes a determination that additional data traffic should be sent to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point. The device sends, based on the determination, the additional data traffic to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point.

Maintaining multiple wireless associations via an over-the-wire relay

In one embodiment, a gateway to a Layer-3 network forms a first Layer-2 tunnel between the gateway and a first wireless access point (AP) that communicates wirelessly with a first mobile node of a mobile system (MS) via a first wireless connection. The gateway generates a mapping that associates an onboard device of the MS with the first AP and an identifier for the MS, based on traffic conveyed via the first Layer-2 tunnel and associated with the onboard device, the traffic comprising a header that indicates the identifier for the MS. The gateway receives, from a second AP, an indication that the MS is roaming from the first wireless connection to a second wireless connection, the indication including the identifier for the MS. The gateway updates the mapping to associate the onboard device of the MS with a second AP, based on the indication that the MS is roaming.

Wireless backhauling system using a mono-tunnel for fast-moving mobile domains

In one embodiment, a mobile system scans wireless channels for any upcoming access points using a dedicated monitor radio of the mobile system. The mobile system identifies a particular wireless channel in use by an upcoming access point. The mobile system notifies a second radio of the mobile system of the particular wireless channel. The mobile system performs a handoff between a current access point and the upcoming access point in part by switching the second radio of the mobile system to the particular wireless channel of the upcoming access point.

Throughput and wireless channel interference mitigation for mobile systems

In one embodiment, a device identifies a path of travel of a mobile system. The device subdivides the path of travel into a plurality of zones. The device generates time-slotted channel hopping schedules for the plurality of zones, each time-slotted channel hopping schedule having an associated zone among the plurality of zones. The device causes the mobile system to communicate wirelessly with networking infrastructure located along the path of travel, in accordance with a particular one of the time-slotted channel hopping schedules while the mobile system is located in its associated zone.

In one embodiment, a device identifies a plurality of access points of a wireless network. The device also identifies a plurality of mobile nodes of a mobile system. The device establishes a first label-switched path in the wireless network that comprises a wireless link between a first mobile node in the plurality of mobile nodes and a first access point in the plurality of access points. The device establishes a second label-switched path in the wireless network that comprises a wireless link between a second mobile node of the mobile system and a second access point in the plurality of access points.

Mobility for wireless networks with multipath support

In one embodiment, a networking device receives packets of a traffic flow destined for a mobile system. The networking device sends a first flowlet of the traffic flow towards the mobile system via a first wireless access point. The networking device determines an idle time between the first flowlet and a second flowlet of the traffic flow. The networking device sends, based on the idle time, the second flowlet towards the mobile system via a second wireless access point.

Reducing packet misorderings in wireless networks

An apparatus, computer program product, and method relating to identifying and configuring an access point (AP) as a network sniffer. A network controller identifies a plurality of sniffer targets for which at least one of a plurality of sniffer candidate access points an act as a network sniffer. The controller receives a desired sniffer target. The controller selects a first AP, of the plurality of sniffer candidate APs, for use as a network sniffer, based on the identified plurality of sniffer targets and the desired sniffer target. The controller configures a radio in the first AP as a network sniffer to monitor network traffic related to the desired sniffer target.

In an example embodiment, there is disclosed a technique that enables a wireless device to achieve coexistence with an interfering source. The wireless device determines when interference is present and not present during a service period and reports the duration of interference free interval. At the end of an interference period, the wireless device can send a trigger signal indicating the start of an interference free interval to request data be sent to the wireless station until the expiration of the duration of the interference free interval. In particular embodiments, the signal sent by the wireless device can include an offset, for example a timing synchronization function (TSF) value, to indicate the end of the interference-free interval, perhaps computed so as allow for some clock drift.
