A synthetic resin material feeding apparatus, for use in a system for forming a sealing liner on the inner surface of a top panel wall of container closure shell, has an extruder and a gear pump. The driving mechanisms of the extruder and the gear pump have an intermittent rotation-driving output for intermittently operating the extruder and the gear pump.

Synthetic resin material feeding apparatus and sealing liner forming

An apparatus equipped with a molding means for molding an annular liner on the inside surface of top panel of a container closure shell. The molding means includes an anvil on which the container closure shell is placed in an inverted state, and a press tool assembly which is disposed above the anvil to ascend or descend relative to the anvil. The press tool assembly includes a punch member, an excess resin counter member arranged on the outside of the punch member, a bushing member arranged on the outside of the excess resin counter member, and a sleeve member arranged on the outside of the bushing member. The sleeve member has a passage notch and a non-passage notch. A feeder nozzle is disposed to feed a synthetic resin material into the press tool assembly, the nozzle having a discharge port positioned in the moving path of passage notch. The synthetic resin material discharged from the discharge port enters into the sleeve member through the non-passage notch and is cut away from the discharge port.

Device for forming annular liner

A molding system for molding a plastic grip member and, at the same time, linking it to a linking protruding piece of a container closure body. The molding system comprises a rotary container closure body conveyor apparatus and a compression molding apparatus. The container closure body conveyor apparatus is provided with a rotary disc that has a plurality of container closure body-receiving portions formed therein and a rotation preventing mechanism that prevents the rotation of the container closure bodies held in the receiving portions. The compression molding apparatus has a mold constituted by a first mold portion and a second mold portion. The first mold portion includes a moving member that moves between a mold position and a separated position. The moving member has a supporting surface for supporting the skirt wall of the container closure body and a support projection for supporting the linking protruding piece of the container closure body. A moving member-moving mechanism is disposed to selectively move the moving member to the mold position or to the separated position.

Apparatus for forming plastic grip member of container closure

An apparatus for forming an annular liner is equipped with a molding assembly which includes a press tool assembly and an anvil. The container closure shell is fed onto the anvil. The press tool assembly has a resin flow path and a means for forcibly flowing a synthetic resin material through the resin flow path. A notch is formed in the upstream portion of the resin flow path. When the molding assembly moves with respect to the feeding nozzle, the synthetic resin material discharged from the discharge port of a feeding nozzle enters into the upstream portion of the resin flow path via the notch, and is cut away from the feeding nozzle.

Apparatus for forming annular liner

A container closure is disclosed having a metallic body and a plastic grip piece. The body includes a top panel wall, a skirt wall extending down from the perepheral edge of the top panel wall, and a linking protruding piece that protrudes from the lower end of the skirt wall. The grip piece includes a linking base portion that covers at least both surfaces of the end portion of the linking protruding piece of the body, and a grip portion that extends from the linking base portion. The grip piece is formed and is, at the same time, linked to the linking protruding piece of the body by flowing a plastic material from one side of the linking protruding piece that positions in the space of the mold. A plastic material inflow groove that extends from the free end thereof toward the lower end of the skirt wall is formed on the side of the other surface of the linking protruding piece of the body.

Compression molding apparatus

A compression molding apparatus includes a rotatable supporting member and circumferentially spaced molds mounted on the rotatable supporting member. The molds are conveyed successively through a plastic material feed zone, a compression molding zone and a discharge zone by the rotation of the rotatable supporting member. A plastic material in a heat softened state is fed into the molds which are disposed within the plastic material feed zone. Each of the molds include a first mold portion and a second mold portion which defines a mold cavity. The mold is opened and closed by moving the mold portions relative to each other in a predetermined direction. A conduit hole extending from the mold cavity is formed in the second mold portion. Each mold includes a compression rod which slides in the conduit hole. The conduit hole has a plastic receiving portion opened frontwardly in the rotating direction of the rotatable supporting member. The plastic material feeder includes an extruder which has an opening opposite to a passage for conveying the plastic. The extruder is constructed such that the heat softened plastic material extruded from the extrusion opening is received in the plastic receiving portion of the conduit hole and cut. The extrusion opening is elongated in the conveying direction of the plastic receiving portion and has a portion progressively wider downstream as viewed in the conveying direction.

A compression molding apparatus for forming a plastic grip ring and simultaneously linking it integrally to a linking protruding piece of a container closure body. The apparatus includes a mold composed of a first mold portion and a second mold portion adapted to be opened or closed by being moved relative to each other in a predetermined direction. The first mold portion has an accommodating space for receiving the closure body and a first mold cavity extending in a ring-like shape. At least the free end portion of the linking protruding piece of the closure body to be received in the accommodating space is projected into the first mold cavity. The second mold portion has a main part consisting of a second mold cavity extending in a ring-like shape and a conduit hole extending in said predetermining direction from the second mold cavity and a compression rod to be slidably inserted into the conduit hole. A plastic material fed into the conduit hole is compressed by the compression rod and molded into the grip ring having a shape corresponding to a molding space defined by the cooperation of the first and second mold cavities.

A rotational plastic compression molding apparatus including a plurality of circumferentially spaced female molds and a plurality of circumferentially spaced male molds cooperating respectively with the plurality of the female molds. The female molds and the male molds are rotated in synchronism and thus moved round successively through a material loading zone, a compression molding zone and an article discharge zone. In the material loading zone and the article discharge zone, each said female mold and each corresponding mold are maintained in a spaced-apart inoperative relation, and in the compression molding zone, they are maintained in an approaching operative relation to define a mold space therebetween. In the material loading zone, a heat-melted plastic material is loaded in the female molds, and in the article discharge zone, the compression-molded plastic article is discharged from between each said female mold and each corresponding male mold.

Rotational plastic compression molding apparatus

A method for forming a liner of the desired shape in a container closure, and an apparatus for carrying out this method. The method involves extruding a liner stock in the heated and molten state into an annular shape by an extruder, positioning the annular liner stock at a predetermined location in a closure, and molding the annular liner stock positioned in the closure into the desired shape while it is still in the molten state.

Apparatus for forming a liner in a container closure

An easily openable container closure comprising (1) a shell of a unitary structure including a top and a cylindrical skirt, said top having an annular top surface portion leading to the upper end of the skirt and a pull ring connected to a part of the inner peripheral edge of the annular top surface portion through a linking piece, and the annular top surface portion and the skirt having a pair of breaking weakened lines formed along the phantom lines extending from both side edges of the linking piece, and (2) a sealing member positioned within the shell for closing an opening present in the top surface of the shell. The annular top surface portion of the shell at least includes a first annular portion extending inwardly from the upper end of the skirt and a second annular portion extending downwardly and inwardly in an inclined manner from the first annular portion. The linking piece extending inwardly from a part of the inner peripheral edge of the annular top surface portion and the pull ring extending inwardly from the inside end of the linking piece are located at a lower level than the uppermost surface of the annular top surface portion.

Easily openable container closure having a shell and a sealing member,

A method of producing an easily openable container closure which has (1) a shell of with unitary structure including a top and cylindrical skirt, the top having an annular top surface portion leading to the upper end of the skirt and a pull ring connected to a part of the inner peripheral edge of the annular top surface portion by a linking piece, and the annular top surface portion and the skirt having a pair of breaking weakened lines extending from both side edges of the linking piece. A set of lance slits is formed in a metal blank, and a pair of weakening lines is formed spaced from each other at a predetermined distance in the circumferential direction and extending over a predetermined distance from near the lance slits toward the center of a circular portion located inwardly of the lance slits. An opening is punched out of the circular portion and the circular portion located inwardly of the lance slits is drawn to form a shell having a circular top with said opening therein and a substantially cylindrical skirt continuous therewith. A slit is formed along said opening spaced a predetermined distance outwardly from the opening. The portion between the opening and the slit is then bent to form a pull ring, and the thus formed shell is separated from the metal blank.
