The present invention provides multifunctional amphiphilic copolymers having the structure set out below: wherein w, x, y, and z are molar percentages, the sum of which equals 100%; wherein Rhas the formula &#x2014;(CHCHO)&#x2014;R, where Ris hydrogen or a C-Calkyl group; Rhas the formula &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;CH; Ris hydrogen or methyl; Rhas the formula &#x2014;(OCHCH)&#x2014;O&#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;CHor &#x2014;(OCHCH)&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH; and n is an integer ranging from 1 to about 10, a is an integer ranging from 1 to about 21, b is an integer ranging from 1 to about 23, and c is an integer ranging from 1 to about 21. The present invention also provides compositions comprising the multifunctional amphiphilic copolymers including spray drift control compositions including agricultural compositions, consumer compositions, industrial compositions, and mining compositions. The present invention also provides methods for preparing and using the multifunctional amphiphilic copolymers.

Functionally versatile amphiphilic copolymers

The present invention provides a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymers. The water -soluble or water-dispersible polymer comprise a first monomer having hydrogen bonding/complexing properties to polyphenols, a second monomer having detergent properties, and a third monomer having hydrogen bonding/complexing properties to polyphenols, wherein the first monomer and the third monomer are the same or different. The present invention also provides oral care compositions comprising the water-soluble or water-dispersible polymers. The present invention also provides methods of cleaning, Whitening arid polishing natural teeth and dental prosthesis and of preventing, reducing or removing surface deposited stains from teeth by administering the oral care compositions. The water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer has a structure:  wherein x, y, z, mole %, n, R, and Rare defined herein.

Polymers for oral care compositions

The invention provides lactamic polymers comprising an acetoacetate moiety. The lactamic polymers may be readily functionalized and the functionalized lactamic polymers may be further derivatized to provide a wide variety of useful polymers having desirable chemical and physical properties. The lactamic polymers of the invention may be employed in a wide variety of compositions. (A); (B) wherein R-R, w, x, y, z, and n are described herein.

The present invention provides coating composition for forming a toner receptive coating on a substrate containing a polymer comprising: (a) a N-vinyl amide monomer, (b) a vinyl acetate monomer, (c) a substituted or unsubstituted monomer comprising a cyclic ether, and (d) a solvent. The coating compositions may further comprise a (e) non-reactive hydrophobic monomer. The invention also provides substrates coated with the toner receptive coatings. 

Coating compositions for forming toner receptive coatings

This present application relates to microcapsules or compositions containing microcapsules wherein the microcapsules comprise a polymerizable lactamic copolymer. More particularly, certain aspects are directed to the use of polymerizable lactamic copolymers in the formation of coatings on microencapsulated particles. These polymerizable lactamic copolymers can result in surface modified microencapsulated particles that may be anionic, non-ionic, or cationic.

Functional additives for cleansing compositions

An inkjet-receptive article comprising a substrate having a coating thereon comprising a vinyl lactam polymer or copolymer and a polymer resin diluent coated from a solvent. A preferred vinyl lactam copolymer is polyvinylcaprolactam (PVCap)&#x2014;vinyl acetate (VA). Also disclosed are solvent-based compositions for forming an inkjet-receptive coating on a substrate comprising: (i) a vinyl lactam polymer or copolymer; (ii) a solvent; (iii) optionally, a pigment; and (iv) polymer resin diluent.

Inkjet-receptive article

The invention discloses processes for thermal transfer patterning of a nanoparticle layer and a corresponding proximate portion of a carrier layer, and optionally additional transfer layers, together onto a thermal imaging receiver. The invention is useful for dry fabrication of electronic devices. Additional embodiments of the invention include multilayer thermal imaging donors comprising in layered sequence: a base film, a carrier layer and a nanoparticle layer. The carrier layer can be a dielectric or conducting layer. When the carrier layer is a dielectric layer, the base film includes a light attenuating agent in the form of a dye or pigment.

Donor elements and processes for thermal transfer of nanoparticle layers

A pigment dispersion useful for forming coating compositions containing dispersed pigment, a carrier solvent and an aminated macromonomer dispersant (binder) is disclosed. The aminated macromonomer dispersant is preferably prepared by the reaction of terminally unsaturated macromonomers synthesized by cobalt-catalyzed chain transfer free radical polymerizations of methacrylic monomers with monomeric or oligomeric amines.

Methods of forming a pattern of filled dielectric material on a substrate by thermal transfer processes are disclosed comprising exposing to heat a thermally imageable donor element comprising a substrate and a transfer layer of dielectric material. The exposure pattern is the image of the desired pattern to be formed on the substrate, such that portions of the layer of dielectric material are transferred onto the substrate where the electronic device is being formed. The filled dielectric material can be patterned onto a gate electrode of a thin film transistor. The pattern dielectric material may also form an insulating layer for interconnects. Donor elements for use in the process are also disclosed. Methods for forming thin film transistors and donor elements for use in the thermal transfer processes are also disclosed.

Methods for forming patterns on a filled dielectric material on substrates

Transparent iron oxide pigment dispersions which produce waterborne coating compositions having excellent transparency and reduced haze are provided. The dispersions contain dispersed pigment, an aqueous carrier, and a mixture of water-dispersible acrylic copolymer dispersants, the mixture containing at least one acrylic copolymer dispersant having acid functional groups, at least one acrylic copolymer dispersant having phosphate functional groups, and optionally at least one acrylic copolymer dispersant having alkyl amino groups and preferably benzyl groups in the pigment anachoring segment. Such pigment dispersions are useful in forming automotive waterborne paints, particularly &ldquo;metallic&rdquo; automotive paints.

Aqueous coating compositions having improved transparency

This invention provides for an aqueous metallic flake containing coating composition having improved glamour. The coating composition includes a neutralized phosphated segmented copolymer dispersed in an aqueous carrier. The phosphorous moiety in the segmented copolymer passivates the metallic flakes, such as aluminum flakes, used to produce the glamour. As a result, generation of hydrogen gas is substantially reduced. The segmented copolymer is provided with hydrophobic and nonionic hydrophilic segments. Applicants have discovered that by including a nonionic hydrophilic segment in the segmented copolymer, glamour of the resultant coating composition can be improved. Furthermore, by controlling the molar ratio of the hydrophobic segment to the hydrophilic segment in the segmented copolymer and the solubility parameter of the hydrophobic segment, applicants have discovered that it is possible to use either a non-passivated aluminum flake or pre-passivated aluminum flake in the coating composition while improving glamour over conventional metallic paints and still maintaining the dispersion stability of the composition. As a result, formulator has substantial leeway in selecting from a wide array of environmentally acceptable solvents, film forming binders and components, which are typically added to a coating composition for improving the coating properties. The composition is most suited for use in automotive OEM and refinish metallic paints.

Metallic flake containing coating compositions having improved glamour

A polymeric dispersant for pigments based on an acrylic graft copolymer wherein the graft copolymer has a weight average molecular weight of about 5,000-100,000 and comprises a hydrophobic polymeric backbone and discrete anionic and nonionic hydrophilic side chains attached to the backbone. These graft copolymers are useful as dispersants in aqueous systems, and are particularly useful in formulating exterior water borne coatings for automobiles and trucks.
