A system and methods are disclosed for synchronizing two or more groups of base stations in a wireless location system. In one embodiment, a first wireless base station belonging to a first group of wireless base stations transmits a first RF beacon for synchronizing the first group of wireless base stations and a second RF beacon that is used to synchronize a second group of wireless base stations. Wireless base stations in the first and second groups transmit respective non-RF (e.g., infrared, ultrasound, etc.) beacons that can be used to locate a portable tag.

A real-time location system including a backbone communication network having a plurality of network access point devices and a real-time location system server, a plurality of monitor devices where each monitor device being located at a location around a facility, each of the plurality of monitor devices being configured to transmit a unique monitor identification code using a secondary transmission technology, each of the monitor identifications codes being mapped to a single location in the facility at which a monitor device is located, each of the monitor devices further being configured to transmit an RF beacon using a first RF protocol, and at least one tag being configured to receive, detect and retransmit the monitor identification code back to at least one of the plurality of monitor devices using a second RF protocol.

A system and methods for presenting a notification for playback at a smart speaker device including a real-time location (RTL) server, a portable device configured to transmit an output signal including a portable device ID representative of the portable device to the RTL server, a notification server configured to communicate with the RTL server, where the notification server is configured to associate the notification with the portable device ID, and at least one of generate, store, distribute, cue and present for playback the notification based on the portable device ID on the smart speaker device associated with a location. The RTL server is configured to determine the location and an identity of the portable device based on receiving the output signal including the portable device ID, and the notification server is configured to cue the associated notification for playback at the smart speaker device based on the determined location of the portable device.

Real-time location smart speaker notification system

Methods and systems for determining a location and an identity of a portable device are provided. The system includes apparatus for transmitting timing synchronization information, a plurality of stationary ultrasonic base stations and a plurality of portable devices. Each ultrasonic base station is configured to receive the timing synchronization information and to transmit a corresponding ultrasonic location code in a time period based on the received timing synchronization information. Each portable device is configured to: 1) receive the timing synchronization information, 2) detect the ultrasonic location codes from the ultrasonic base stations and 3) transmit an output signal including a portable device ID representative of the portable device and the detected ultrasonic location code. Each portable device is synchronized to detect the ultrasonic location code in the time period based on the received timing synchronization information.

Methods and systems for synchronized ultrasonic real time location

Dual-mode position-locating tag, including: a transmitter module configured to communicate with a Wi-Fi network; a transceiver module configured to communicate with a non-Wi-Fi network; a processor coupled to the transmitter module and the transceiver module; and at least one location sensor coupled to the processor, the location sensor coupled to a secondary technology receiver. The transmitter module may transmit a signal to produce a first location measurement. The secondary technology receiver may receive a signal usable to calculate a second location measurement that is more accurate than the first location measurement.

System and method for multimode Wi-Fi based RTLS

Systems for determining a location of a portable device are provided. The system includes stationary infrared (IR) base stations, portable devices and at least one radio frequency (RF) transceiver. At least two of the IR base stations receive timing synchronization information and transmit corresponding IR location codes in a time period based on the received timing synchronization information. Each IR location code is representative of a location of the corresponding IR base station. Each portable device detects the IR location codes and, if one of the IR location codes is detected, transmits an output signal including a portable device ID representative of the portable device and the detected IR location code. The RF transceiver periodically provides, upon a request, the timing synchronization information to the respective IR base stations relative to a unified time of origin.

Methods and systems for synchronized infrared real time location

Methods and systems for determining a location and an identity of a portable device are provided. The system includes apparatus for transmitting timing synchronization information, a plurality of stationary infrared (IR) base stations and a plurality of portable devices. Each IR base station is configured to receive the timing synchronization information and to transmit a corresponding IR location code in a time period based on the received timing synchronization information. Each portable device is configured to: 1) receive the timing synchronization information, 2) detect the IR location codes from the IR base stations and 3) transmit an output signal including a portable device ID representative of the portable device and the detected IR location code. Each portable device is synchronized to detect the IR location code in the time period based on the received timing synchronization information.

A receiver includes two receiving modules, where the first receiving module is extremely parsimonious on battery power and as long as it is successful in developing a proper output signal at a given port maintains the second receiving module off, or substantially off. When the signal output of the first module drops below a preselected output, the second receiving module is enabled to develop and apply an output signal to the given port.
