A system and method for active profile services is provided. An embodiment includes an active profile server that is configured to respond to requests for subscriber profile information from an application server. The profile server is further configured to access a known set of profile information for a subscriber and, according to predefined criteria, automatically modify the known set of subscriber profile information and provide the modified profile information to the application server.

Disclosed is a species of control-message intercept method which includes a passive monitoring approach whereby the relevant control packets are inspected for the purpose of providing additional information for the purpose of facilitating the operation of some primary or 'master' Internet Protocol (IP) charging/rating middleware platform/gateway system (intended to equip network operators with the ability to rate and bill IP traffic), and secondly, an invasive technique whereby control (GTP-C) messages are injected for the purpose of altering the state of a given data session in an more aggressive fashion (e.g. to drop a data session when the subscriber runs out of money in his/her prepaid account).

Method for implementing an internet protocol (IP) charging and rating middleware platform and gateway system

The method for implementing an Intelligent Content Rating middleware platform and gateway system provides telecommunications carriers and network operators with the ability to define routing and actions based on HTTP/SIP based content and subscriber context through a powerful, extensible Layer 4-7 switching fabric technology. The disclosed embodiments mediate communications between applications and networks for IP packet flows, personal messaging, location-based services, and billing. Furthermore, the disclosed embodiments enable advanced context-sensitive dialogue scenarios with the wireless subscriber such as, but not limited to, Advice-of-Charge dialogues. The disclosed embodiments permit telecommunications network operators and like entities to introduce real-time rating of data services for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. Further embodiments include the validation of digital signatures, combined with authentication and non-repudiation techniques to ensure subscriber privacy remains protected.

A method and a system for enabling a telecommunication network operators to transparently intermediate P data flow, by providing a highly scalable, and superior data classification method for implementing policy based filtering, forwarding, accounting and/or monitoring of informational packets of interest; and indeed, is intended to exploit the resiliency of open network architecture and lessen the requisite dependency on proprietary network elements services and other such systems.
