An apparatus includes an exhaust aftertreatment component. According to various embodiments, the exhaust aftertreatment component is any of a diesel oxidation catalyst, a diesel particulate filter, a decomposition reactor tube, a selective catalytic reduction device, and a reductant injector assembly. The apparatus also includes a ceramic thermal barrier coating applied to a surface of the exhaust aftertreatment component. The surface may, for example, be an outer wall of a housing of the exhaust aftertreatment component.

Use of insulating paint on exhaust aftertreatment system components

A selective catalytic reduction including a decomposition section including an intake chamber, with a swirl generating plate disposed in an internal volume of the intake chamber. The swirl generating plate includes a curved sidewall, a first end defining an opening, and a second end. The curved sidewall is oriented substantially normal to the direction of an intake flow of exhaust gas and a convex surface of the curved sidewall is oriented to face the direction of the intake flow. The swirl generating plate is configured to divide the intake flow into a first flow portion flowing through the opening, a second and a third flow portion which are directed substantially normal to the direction of intake flow and the flow direction of the first flow portion, and in opposite directions to each other towards a backwall of the intake chamber so as to create opposing swirls.

Selective catalytic reduction with integrated decomposition chamber with exhaust flow swirl generating design

A system and method for providing a selective catalytic reduction system with a doser mounting system. A mounting plate includes an aperture in a surface with a plurality of fastener brackets coupled to the surface. The fastener brackets are positioned about a peripheral portion of the aperture. The fastener brackets each include an opening for inserting a fastener. The opening is elevated from the surface of the mounting plate. The fasteners each have a fastener head and a fastener shaft positioned in the opening of the fastener brackets. The fastener shaft extends from the opening in a direction having an orthogonal component with respect to the surface of the mounting plate. A doser is coupled to the doser mounting system. The fastener shafts extend through openings in legs of the doser. An injector port of the doser is aligned with the aperture in the mounting plate.

Doser mounting system, components and methods

A dosing module for an exhaust aftertreatment system includes an attachment interface for coupling to an exhaust system. The attachment interface includes a heat pipe system that includes a cavity encasing a fluid. The cavity has a heat source portion thermally coupled with a portion of the attachment interface and a heat sink portion thermally coupled with a cooling system. The fluid transfers heat from the heat source portion to the heat sink portion.

An aftertreatment system comprises a first passageway to receive a first portion and a second passageway to receive a second portion of the exhaust gas from the engine. The first and second passageways can have the same length. A first selective catalytic reduction system is fluidly coupled to the first passageway to receive and treat the first portion. A second selective catalytic reduction system is fluidly coupled to the second passageway to receive and treat the second portion. A plurality of sensors are disposed on the first passageway and/or the first selective catalytic reduction system to sense operational parameters of the first portion of the exhaust gas. A controller is in electronic communication with the plurality of sensors to determine the operational parameters of the first portion and to determine operational parameters of the second portion of the exhaust gas based upon the first operational parameters.

Single sensor monitoring system for multiple after-treatment systems on engines

A mounting system for an exhaust system component may include one or more end mounting brackets and one or more intermediary mounting brackets. Each of the one or more end mounting brackets and the one or more intermediary mounting brackets may each include a vertical member, a horizontal member, one or more attachment openings, and an attachment strap configured to secure a component of an exhaust system to the respective end mounting bracket or intermediary mounting bracket. The one or more end mounting brackets and the one or more intermediary mounting brackets may be configured to be selectively attached and detached from a mounting surface via one or more surface attachment members and the one or more attachment openings.

Adjustable mounting system for aftertreatment or exhaust components

System and apparatus are disclosed for reducing reductant deposit formation in an exhaust aftertreatment system. A directing device is provided in the exhaust flow path upstream of a reductant opening into the exhaust flow path. The directing device is configured to direct an exhaust flow toward the reductant opening and around the directing device to effectively mix the exhaust flow with a reductant provided through the reductant opening to reduce the formation of reductant deposits.
