A method for channel prediction for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems for Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) fronthaul Split 7.2 networks enables prediction of a channel that is seen by the UL slot. The pre-processing matrix is computed by the distributed unit (DU) based on this predicted channel and sent to the radio unit (RU) for minimizing the effects of channel aging. A channel corresponding to sounding reference signal (SRS) symbol closest to uplink slot being decoded can be predicted from previous SRS symbols and can be used as a combining matrix. Alternatively, the channel of the uplink slot itself can be predicted from past SRS symbols, and a combining matrix can be generated based on the predicted channel.

Method and apparatus for channel prediction for 5G uplink/downlink massive MIMO system for open Radio Access Networks

A method of Narrow-band Internet of Things physical random-access channel (NPRACH) communication includes: transmitting, from a user equipment (UE), a Narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) symbol using a transmit inverse fast Fourier transform (Tx-IFFT) having a first length; processing, at lower physical layer (LPHY) of a baseband unit (BBU), the NB-IoT OFDMA symbol using a receive fast Fourier transform (Rx-FFT) having a second length different from the first length to generate an Rx-FFT output; sending, from the LPHY of the BBU to upper physical layer (UPHY) of the BBU, a selected number of values of the Rx-FFT output corresponding to desired resources block in the NB-IoT OFDMA symbol; filtering, at the UPHY, intercarrier interference (ICI) from the selected number of values of the Rx-FFT output; and reconstructing, at the UPHY, the NB-IoT OFDMA symbol.

The disclosure relates to a pre-5G or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4G communication system, such as LTE. A method includes receiving, by a UE, PDCCH information from a network entity, where the PDCCH information includes DCI and PDSCH information, and determining, by the UE, the default beam behavior based on a CORESET with a lowest ID among first and second CORESETs, in response to determining that a TCI state is not present in the DCI and the scheduling offset between reception of all transmission occasions of DL DCI and the corresponding PDSCH information of the serving cell is greater than or equal to the threshold.

There is provided a technique of decoding an uplink in a multiple input multiple output wireless communication system in an open radio access network having an open distributed unit (O-DU) and an open radio unit (O-RU). The O-DU (a) constructs a combining matrix for a resource block, and (b) sends the combining matrix to the O-RU. The O-RU (a) utilizes the combining matrix to compress signals on Nantennas per subcarrier into M values, where Nis a number of antennas, and M is less than N, and (b) sends the M values per subcarrier to the O-DU.

Decoding uplink in a massive multiple input multiple output wireless communication system for an open radio access network

A method for accommodating users in an uplink channel is provided. The method comprises a processor for selecting a region of sub carriers in a frequency domain, wherein a channel value of a plurality of users over the selected region varies gradually. The processor is further configured to select the sub carriers within the selected region of sub carriers by skipping the sub carriers by an integer value which is 0 or more than 0. A product of a known sequence and an exponential sequence is transmitting over the selected sub carriers, wherein the exponential sequence is characterized by a cyclic shift value. Further, a base station is configured to perform channel estimation of the users using the received selected sub carriers within the selected region and the processor is also configured to perform data detection for the users over the selected sub carriers using the estimated channel value.

System and method for accommodating more number of users over resource blocks in an uplink transmission

A method for improving signal to noise ratio in an uplink transmission. The method includes determining a plurality of combinations of 'N' possible users to be selected among 'X' users that are transmitting signals to a base station comprising &#x201c;n&#x201d; number of antennas, where n&#x3e;=N, wherein selected &#x201c;N&#x201d; users transmit on a same sub-carrier; computing signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the signals received from each of the users among the determined combination of &#x201c;N&#x201d; possible users; and selecting at least one combination among the plurality of combinations of &#x201c;N&#x201d; possible users, such that, a combined signal to noise ratio of the selected combination is maximum among all combinations.

Wireless communications systems and methods related to intra-packet rate adaptation are provided. A first wireless communication device communicates, with a second wireless communication device, an intra-packet modulation coding scheme (MCS) switching configuration. An embodiment of a transmitter includes detection, generating, and transmission stages. The detection stage is configured to detect a first signal having a first component that includes a frequency, and the generating stage is configured to generate a data component that includes approximately the frequency in response to the detection of the first signal. The transmission stage is configured to transmit a second signal having the data component while the detection stage is detecting the first signal. For example, two or more such transmitters (e.g., two or more smart phones) may simultaneously transmit OFDM signals on the same subcarrier frequencies and over the same channel space. By allowing the simultaneous transmission of multiple signals on the same frequencies and over the same channel space, such a transmitter may increase the effective bandwidth of the channel space, and thus may allow more devices to simultaneously share the same channel space.

In an embodiment, an apparatus includes a determiner, converter, adapter, and modifier. The determiner is configured to generate a representation of a difference between a first frequency at which a first signal is sampled and a second frequency at which a second signal is sampled, and the converter is configured to generate a second sample of the first signal at a second time in response to the representation and a first sample of the first signal at a first time. The adapter is configured to generate a sample of a modifier signal in response to the second sample of the first signal, and the modifier is configured to generate a modified sample of the second signal in response to a sample of the second signal and the sample of the modifier signal. For example, such an apparatus may be able to reduce the magnitude of an echo signal in a system having an audio pickup (e.g., a microphone) near an audio output (e.g., a speaker).
