A device for connecting a user station to a CAN bus, the user station in the active state being able to exchange messages with other user stations via the CAN bus using the device, according to the standard ISO 11898; the user station in the at-rest state being able to be activated using the device, in response to the reception of a wake-up information; the wake-up information configured as a CAN message according to the standard ISO 11898; in the device, a suitable first arrangement selectively evaluating the wake-up information received, so that the wake-up process is initiated only in response to the presence of wake-up information that is specified or specifiable for the respective user station which is characterized in that a storage arrangement is provided in the device in order, in case the wake-up process is initiated, which store the wake-up information evaluated for this entirely or partially.

Method and device for storing an item of wake-up information in users of a CAN bus system

In a counter mode encryption scheme, a sending device sends a first message including first cipher text and a first counter used to generate the first cipher text to a receiving device for decryption. The sending device subsequently generates a second counter for generating second cipher text. The sending device sends a second message including the second cipher text and intermediate state data corresponding to a change between the first counter second counter to the receiving device for decryption. The intermediate state data are represented by a smaller number of bits than the first counter. The method enables improved counter mode encrypted communication in networks that lose one or more intermediate messages between the first message and the second message.

A method for transferring data between a data transmission system and a processor of a participant in the data transmission system. All components of the data transmission system are synchronized to a common global time base. The operating system time base of the participant processor is synchronized to the global time base of the data transmission system at least prior to a data transfer, and, to this end, a synchronization clock pulse that is synchronous to the global time base of the data transmission system is provided for synchronizing the operating system time base. This synchronization clock pulse may be provided by a hardware and/or software arrangement. In a data transmission system for implementing the method, the synchronization clock pulse is provided by suitable arrangement(s) of the communications controller and applied to the host processor via a synchronization line.
