An igniter carrier () for an igniter unit (), particularly for a gas generator, including a first receptacle section () for an igniter (), a second receptacle section () and a connecting section () for attaching the igniter unit (), wherein the igniter carrier () is prefabricated from a plurality of individual parts joined together and can be assembled in an assembly process as an individual part () of an assembly () together with an igniter () and a connector part () is provided. An igniter unit (), particular for a gas generator, including such an igniter carrier (), to an igniter () and to a method for producing such an igniter unit () is provided.

Igniter carrier, igniter unit and method for producing an igniter unit

A filter for use in a gas generator of a safety arrangement in vehicles, has several layers of a woven metal fabric consisting of metal wires which are woven together. The woven metal fabric is preferably calendered, wound to form a roll, and pressed to form said filter.

Filter for use in a gas generator

A gas generator, particularly for a vehicle occupant restraint system, has at least one igniter (), a pyrotechnic solid propellant bed (), a combustion chamber () containing the propellant bed () and at least one wall part (), the wall part () being arranged in the combustion chamber (), which is moved by a gas stream generated on activation of the gas generator into the region of the propellant bed () which is not yet ignited, and in its interior () defines a gas-directing channel reaching into the propellant bed ().

Gas generator

For manufacturing a gas generator (), a tubular body () having an opening () in a circumferential wall () and a housing part () having an attachment end () are provided. The geometry of a proximate rim () of the opening () and that of the attachment end () are coordinated such that a first contact region encircling the opening () and a second contact region on the attachment end (), which is circumferentially closed, are formed. The housing part () is placed onto the tubular body () such that the first contact region is in contact with the second contact region. Then the body () and the housing part () are joined to each other by capacitor discharge welding.

Method for manufacturing a gas generator

A gas generator comprises an oblong outer housing and an elongated combustion chamber insert with a tubular wall arranged in the outer housing. The combustion chamber insert contains a solid propellant, has a first and a second axial end and is held in the outer housing. The tubular wall of the combustion chamber insert is fixed at both axial ends by a form fit in radial and axial direction to the outer housing.

Gas generator and method for assembling of a gas generator

A gas generator includes a housing, which has outflow openings for outflowing gas, and at least one destructible insulation foil which in a non-activated state of the gas generator closes at least one of the outflow opening so as to be moisture-tight. The insulation foil has a varying thickness. The varying thickness is provided by at least one thermally insulating foil layer with a varying thickness, which lies over a base layer.

A gas generator housing part is produced of a thin-walled tube having a wall thickness which amounts to a maximum of 10% of a tube external diameter and a minimum tensile strength which amounts to at least approximately 800 N/mm, and a connecting piece having an external diameter which amounts to between 15% and 40% of the tube external diameter. After aligning the connecting piece radially to the tube such that an end face of the connecting piece faces an outer face of the tube, the tube and the connecting piece are joined by friction welding. A maximum welding time amounts to less than 1 second, preferably less than 0.3 second and a friction depth amounts to less than 80% of the wall thickness of the tube.

A gas generator comprises an elongated outer housing () that has end faces and a side wall, at least three stages () which can be activated independently of each other, and for each stage () an associated igniter unit (). The igniter units () are mounted laterally to the side wall of the outer housing ().

A gas generator comprises an elongated, preferably tubular outer housing (), at least one combustion chamber () provided therein and filled with a solid propellant ('), and at least one igniter unit () generating ignition gas for igniting the solid propellant (&#x2032;). The igniter unit () is arranged laterally and externally on the outer housing () in such a way and, in relation to the outer housing (), a preferably radial ignition transfer opening () is provided in the outer housing so that ignition gas generated in the igniter unit () flows into the interior of the outer housing () via the ignition transferopenings ().

A gas generating device comprises a gas generator () which has an outer housing (), and a gas conduit pipe () which is connected to the gas generator () and via which a gas flows out from the gas generator (). The outer housing () has at least two openings () via which the gas conduit pipe () is fastened to the outer housing () and through which the gas can flow out when the gas conduit pipe () is not installed. The gas generator () is neutral with respect to thrust without the gas conduit pipe () arranged on it. The gas conduit pipe () projects into the interior of the gas generator () via at least one of the openings ().
