A seat assembly having a seat back and a support post for supporting a headrest. The seat back may have a cross member that may include a support post opening and a flexible arm that may have a barb. The flexible arm may flex between a latched position in which the barb may be disposed in a notch of the support post to inhibit movement of the support post and an unlatched position in which the barb may be spaced apart from the notch to permit removal of the support post from the support post opening.

Seat assembly having a cross member

A seat assembly having a seat back that may include a cross member that is mounted to a side frame member. The cross member may have a support post opening, a collar, and a spacer band. The spacer band may be disposed in the support post opening between the collar and the headrest support post.

A head restraint assembly is provided with a head restraint frame mounted to a post for movement along the post for adjustment relative to a vehicle seat. The head restraint frame has a contact surface. A biasing member is mounted to the head restraint frame for movement relative to the head restraint frame to maintain the head restraint frame in a locked condition along the post. An actuation member is mounted to the head restraint frame for movement relative to the head restraint frame. The actuation member cooperates with the biasing member such that movement of the actuation member moves the biasing member, thereby disengaging the biasing member from the post to permit movement of the head restraint along the post such that the biasing member engages the contact surface in the second position to provide feedback to the user of an unlocked condition of the head restraint frame.

Adjustable head restraint assembly for vehicle seats

A height adjustable head restraint assembly is provided with an upright guide adapted to be mounted to a vehicle body proximate to a seat back. The guide has a cross section. A frame has a cavity with a cross section oversized relative to that of the guide to receive the guide. At least one of the guides in the frame has a plurality of projections extending to engage the other for providing guidance therebetween. A head restraint is mounted to the frame for translation along the guide. A motor is mounted to the frame for driving a threaded rod that is engaged with a fixed nut that is mounted to the guide for translating the head restraint. A pair of conductive brushes is provided on the guide and a pair of conductive contacts is mounted to the frame in electrical communication with the motor for providing power to the motor.

Height adjustable head restraints for vehicle seats

A seat assembly having a seat back that includes a side frame member and a cross member. The cross member may have first and second support post openings for receiving a headrest support post. First and second sets of arcuate ribs may be disposed between the first and second support post openings. Members of the first set may be concave with respect to the first support post opening. Members of the second set may be concave with respect to the second support post opening.

The body has an opening for receiving a support post and first and second engagement features that are configured to flex. The biasing member exerts a biasing force on the first and second engagement features to bias the first and second engagement features.

A head restraint is mounted to another guide member that has notches and is mounted to the first guide member for movement in a fore and aft direction. A biasing member biases a locking mechanism that is mounted to the first guide member into engagement with the notches. A first actuator is mounted to the first guide member for actuation in a lateral direction from one lateral side such that linear actuation of a first actuator compresses the biasing member to disengage the locking mechanism from the notches to permit adjustment of the fore and aft position of the head restraint. A second actuator is mounted to the first guide member for actuation in a direction perpendicular to the lateral direction and cooperates with the first actuator for actuating the first actuator.

Movable head restraints for vehicle seats

A seat assembly that includes a seat back, a support post disposed on the seat back, and a headrest moveably disposed on the support post. The headrest includes first and second transverse members disposed on the support post and a spindle assembly rotatably associated with the first and second transverse members. The spindle assembly rotates to permit movement of the headrest.

Seat assembly having a moveable head restraint

An adjustable head restraint assembly is provided with a support rod adapted to be mounted proximate to a vehicle seat back. A primary frame is supported on the support rod. A secondary frame is mounted to the primary frame for translation in a fore and aft direction. A locking arm is pivotally connected to one of the frames for engagement with a series of notches formed in the other. A biasing member cooperates with a locking arm for biasing the locking arm into a locked position. An actuator pivots the locking arm out of engagement from the series of notches for unlocking the locking arm and permitting adjustment of the adjustable head restraint in the fore and aft direction. The primary frame translates along the support rod with a locking arm for engagement with notches in the support rod for movement by the actuator for adjustment in an upright direction.

Seat assembly having a movable head restraint

A vehicle head restraint assembly is provided with a first guide member mounted proximate to a vehicle seat back and a second guide member mounted to the first guide member for movement in fore and aft direction. One of the guide members has a series of notches. A head restraint is mounted to the second guide member. A locking mechanism is mounted to the other guide member for extending into one of the notches. A biasing member biases the locking mechanism in engagement with the notches. An actuator is mounted to one of the guide members for actuation from one lateral side of the head restraint and cooperates with the locking mechanism such that linear actuation of the actuator from one lateral side results in symmetrical compression of the biasing member for disengaging the locking mechanism from the notches for permitting fore and aft adjustment of the head restraint.
