A vascular implant, in particular a prosthetic heart valve, for providing valve function, has a stent structure with a proximal conical-convex inflow region, a distal, linear cylindrical outflow region, an intermediate transition region, and a corresponding valve arrangement. When the stent structure is in the expanded state, a higher maximum radial force exists in the inlet region in direct comparison to the lower maximum radial force in the outlet region and in the transition region.

The invention relates to stents made of a material with an elongation at rupture of 30% or less and with a tubular base body which entirely or in parts comprises structural segments which are interconnected in longitudinal direction of the stents by means of transverse connectors and in which the structural segments comprise a zigzagging or undulating structure of a brace which is wrapped around the longitudinal axis of the stent. Due to the mechanical properties of the materials used, adaptation of the stent design is required. This is achieved in that in a turning region of the zigzagging or undulating structure the brace comprises a straight bending section aligned in circumferential direction.

An application system for a stent comprising a catheter having at least one retention structure permanently connected to the catheter and a stent drawn onto the catheter using at least one retention element. The retention structure provides a retention area which receives and fixes the retention element. The retention element of the stent and the retention structure of the catheter have their geometry and position tailored to one another in such a way that the retention element is located in the retention area of the retention structure in the non-expanded state of the stent and the retention structure and/or the retention element are offset to one another upon expansion of the stent or at least in the expanded state of the stent so that the retention element is no longer located in the retention area of the retention structure.

The invention concerns a stent comprising a longitudinal axis () and a peripheral wall () which is formed at least over a part of the length of the stent () by a lattice-like carrier structure () which is open at two ends. The carrier structure includes at least one bar () extending helically around the longitudinal axis in such a way as to provide a helical primary shape () for the peripherally extending bar with more than one helical turn. Besides the helical primary shape () the bar has a zigzag-like or meander-shaped secondary shape () with reversal points and associated reversal portions (), between which extend bar portions () of the peripherally extending bar with an extension component in the longitudinal direction of the stent. The carrier structure further includes connecting bars () which respectively bridge over a helical turn of the helical primary structure and which at their two longitudinal ends attach to the bar portions () of the helical primary shape between two respective adjacent reversal points.

A stent, in particular a coronary stent, for expansion from a first condition into an expanded second condition in which it holds a vessel in an expanded state, comprising a tubular body whose peripheral surface () is formed by a number of support portions () which extend in the longitudinal direction of the stent and which comprise bar elements () which are connected by way of connecting bars (), wherein there is provided a number of support portion groups () with at least a first support portion () and a second support portion () in adjacent relationship in the peripheral direction of the stent, whose bar elements () extend in a meander configuration in the longitudinal direction of the stent, and wherein the first engagement points () of first connecting bars () engage the first support portion () and the second engagement points () of the first connecting bars () engage the second support portion (), wherein the first and second engagement points () of the first connecting bars () are spaced from each other in the longitudinal direction of the stent and the first connecting bars () are of such a configuration and arrangement that the spacing between the first and second engagement points () of the first connecting bars () in the longitudinal direction of the stent changes upon expansion of the stent to compensate for the reduction in length of the support portions.
