A downhole tool including a body having a hydraulic fluid chamber, and a flexible multi-layer barrier impermeable to gas and water mounted at the body separating the hydraulic fluid chamber from fluids external to the body. The flexible multi-layer barrier including a first elastomeric layer, a second elastomeric layer, and a gas impermeable layer arranged between the first elastomeric layer and the second elastomeric layer, the gas impermeable layer being formed from a metal layer.

An apparatus for controlling flow of a fluid in a fluid conduit may include a closure member having an outer circumferential surface defined by a composite geometry, a biasing member applying a biasing force to the closure member, and a sealing member receiving the closure member. An anchoring system for use with a downhole tool includes a body with anchor members mounted on the body that pivot radially outward from the body and into engagement with an inner surface of a tubular. Curved slots are provided along a portion of the members and a sliding block has a protrusion that projects into the slots. The slots are curved so that when the block is urged axially within the body, the interaction between the slots and protrusions pivots the members radially outward. A piston is urged through the body to drive the block. Optionally, an elongate helical gear may cooperate with grooves formed in an edge of the members so that rotating the gear pivots the members radially outward.

A well tool has a pressure sensor disposed in an interior space. The pressure sensor has at least one sensing element estimating a pressure parameter of a fluid in the interior space and a transponder configured to transmit radio frequency (RF) signals representative of the estimated pressure parameter. A method of cutting a control line mounted on an outer surface of a downhole tubular that includes providing a cutting tool having a main body, and a cutting head on a lower end of the body that rotates with respect to the body. A cutting blade is on a lower end of the cutting head, which is rotatable by a motor, where the blade is selectively pivoted radially outward from an axis of the cutting head. As the cutting head rotates, the cutting blade orbits within the tubular axially offset from the axis. When the tool is inserted into the tubular, the radial offset of the blade is controlled so it pivots radially outward into contact with the tubular when the blade approaches an azimuthal area proximate the control line. The cutting blade is retracted when its orbit moves it past the azimuthal area proximate the control line.

A method for controlling the electrical power delivered to a downhole system. The downhole system may include a power supply, a downhole tool, and a wire or cable connecting the downhole tool to the power supply. A resistive load, such as a motor, is included with the downhole tool. The power supplied to the downhole tool is dynamically adjustable to match the resistive load voltage and power rating. Dynamically adjusting power is accomplished by varying voltage from the power supply, varying the resistive load requirements, or a combination of both.

The casing cutter disclosed herein is useful for severing downhole tubulars and includes a body, a cutting head, cutting blades, and actuators for operating the cutting head and cutting blades. Cutting is accomplished by rotatingly actuating the cutting head with an associated motor, and then radially extending the cutting blades away from the cutting head. In one embodiment, the cutting head includes a cutting member that pivotally extends from the cutting head upon rotation of the cutting head. In another embodiment, cutting members extend from the cutting head due to centrifugal forces associated with rotating the cutting head.
