A method and apparatus of a device that re-rank a plurality of search results received from a search server on the device is described. In an exemplary embodiment, the device receives, with a browser of the device, a search query from a user. The device further sends the search query to a search server. In addition, the device receives the plurality of search results from the search server, wherein the plurality of search results is ranked according to a first ranking. The device also retrieves browser history of the user, wherein the browser history is collected on the device without revealing the browser history to the search server. The device further re-ranks the plurality of search results according to a second ranking based on at least the browser history. In addition, the device presents the plurality of search results using the second ranking.

Client-side search result re-ranking

Methods and systems for sharing content includes detecting a secondary device that is paired to a main device. The main device is used to render publicly viewable content. Each secondary device is associated with a user and is used to access and view content provided by one or more content sources over a network and share the content with the main device and with other secondary devices. Selection of a multimedia content for sharing, is detected at the secondary device. The selection causes the rendering of the multimedia content at a display screen of the secondary device. Share attributes defined for the multimedia content selected for sharing, is identified on the secondary device. The multimedia content selected for sharing is populated and is available for viewing on the main device and/or one or more secondary devices of other users in accordance to the defined share attributes.

Interaction with multiple connected devices

Methods and systems for sharing content includes detecting selection of multimedia content at a first device. The selection causes automatic rendition of the selected multimedia content on a display portion of the first device. Selection of a second device is detected at a user interface of the first device. The user interface identifies a plurality of devices that have an established communication pairing with the first device. A gesture made with the first device while the second device continues to be selected, is identified. The gesture acts as a trigger for sharing the selected multimedia content with the second device. The gesture causes the multimedia content to be automatically transmitted to the second device for rendering at a display portion of the second device.

Gestures for sharing content between multiple devices

In one embodiment, access a set of recency ranking data comprising one or more recency search queries and one or more recency search results, each of the recency search queries being recency-sensitive with respect to a particular time period and being associated with a query timestamp representing the time at which the recency search query is received at a search engine, each of the recency search results being generated by the search engine for one of the recency search queries and comprising one or more recency network resources. Construct a plurality of recency features from the set of recency ranking data. Train a first ranking model via machine learning using at least the recency features.

Incorporating recency in network search using machine learning

A blended query rewrite provider takes as an input a search query and produces a list of query rewrite suggestions. The blended query rewrite provider generates suggestions by applying a number of individual query rewrite providers in series to a query. The sequence in which query rewrite providers are applied to a query is encoded in a query rewrite policy. Policies differ between query types. A policy application engine component selects which policy to apply to a given query based on the cluster to which a query belongs. The policy application engine uses a machine learning algorithm to assign a query to a cluster based on query features. The policy generation engine generates policies and trains the clustering algorithm used by the policy application engine offline based on training data sets and query logs.
