A connector system for a rod-shaped two-ended gas discharge lamp () with bases () disposed on the connector ends () of the discharge lamp () and with insert sockets () for receiving the bases () in a lamp housing (). Each base () is provided with a contact pin () linked with a lamp electrode () with an insulating cylinder () surrounding the contact pin () while leaving a lateral connector opening () free. Each insert socket () is provided with a contact element () that can be detachably engaged with the corresponding contact pin () through the connector opening () of the pertaining base () and can be impinged upon with a high voltage. The insert socket is further provided with an insulating body () that carries the contact element () and covers the connector opening () in the connected state.
