Disclosed herein is a foamed composition comprising 55 to 98 wt. % of polyamide, and 2 to 45 wt. % of ionomer comprising a zinc neutralized ethylene acid copolymer. The zinc neutralized ethylene acid copolymer is the polymerized reaction product of ethylene monomer, monocarboxylic acid monomer, and unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer, and 30 to 70 mole percent of total acid units of the ionomer are neutralized.

Polyamide foam preparation

The present invention relates to oriented, multilayer polyethylene films. In one aspect, a biaxially oriented, multilayer polyethylene film comprises at least one layer comprising: (1) a polyethylene-based composition that comprises: (a) at least 97% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyethylene-based composition, of a polyethylene composition comprising: (i) from 25 to 37 percent by weight of a first polyethylene fraction having a density in the range of 0.935 to 0.947 g/cmand a melt index (I) of less than 0.1 g/10 minutes; and (ii) from 63 to 75 percent by weight of a second polyethylene fraction; and (b) 20 to 5000 ppm, based on the total weight of the polyethylene-based composition of a nucleating agent, wherein the nucleating agent comprises a calcium salt of 1,2-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid or sodium 4-[(4-chlorobenzoyl) amino] benzoate; wherein the polyethylene composition has less than 0.10 branches per 1,000 carbon atoms when measured usingC NMR, wherein the density of the polyethylene-based composition is at least 0.965 g/cm, and wherein the melt index (I) of the polyethylene-based composition is 0.5 to 10 g/10 minutes.

Oriented polyethylene films and articles comprising the same

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a thermoplastic adhesive composition comprising: at least one maleic anhydride-grafted ethylene-based polymer; at least one at least one ethylene/α-olefin/non-conjugated diene interpolymer having a molecular weight distribution (MWD) ≥2.5, wherein MWD=Mw/Mn, wherein Mw is weight averaged molecular weight and Mn is number averaged molecular weight, which are both determined by gel permeation chromatography; a very low density polyethylene (VLDPE) having a density in the range 0.885 to 0.915 grams/cm; and optionally at least one ethylene alkyl (meth)acrylate copolymer, wherein the alkyl group comprises one to four carbon atoms.

Universal thermoplastic adhesives for multilayer films

Disclosed is a composition that comprises or is produced from a first ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin copolymer, a modified first ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin copolymer, and a second ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin copolymer or propylene &#x3b1;-olefin copolymer. Multilayer structure comprising polypropylene

Disclosed is a multilayer film structure, comprising, in order, a puncture resistant layer comprising at least one cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) and at least one ionomer or polyolefin, a tie layer and a sealant layer. The structure can be coextruded and can be prepared using a triple bubble process.

The articles prepared from the compositions with mixed ion ionomers exhibit high stiffness, hardness and toughness, good scratch resistance, desirable low melt viscosity and high processability.

A foamable composition comprises at least about 50 wt % of a copolymer of ethylene and alkyl (meth)acrylate having a broad chemical composition distribution (CCD), and having a melt index between about 7 and about 30; about 2 to about 40 wt % of a polyolefin having a carboxylic acid or carboxylic acid anhydride functionality; about 1 to about 10 wt % of one or more foaming agents; and about 1 to about 5 wt % of one or more crosslinking agents. This foamable composition combines ease of processing with good foaming characteristics while avoiding unwanted characteristics, such as fogging.

An ionomer blend composition comprises a blend of a first ionomer and a second ionomer that is different from the first ionomer. The first ionomer is derived from a first precursor acid copolymer that has a melt flow rate of about 10 to about 4000 g/10 min and that comprises copolymerized units of an &#x3b1;-olefin and about 20 to about 30 wt % of copolymerized units of an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid. Moreover, the first precursor acid can be neutralized to a level of about 40% to about 90% to form a sodium ionomer that has a MFR of about 0.7 to about 25 g/10 min and a freeze enthalpy that is less than about 3.0 j/g or that is not detectable, when determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A variety of articles may comprise or be produced from the ionomer blend composition, for example by injection molding.

High-clarity blended ionomer compositions and articles comprising the same

An ionomer composition comprises an ionomer that is the neutralized product of a precursor acid copolymer. The precursor acid copolymer comprises copolymerized units of an &#x3b1;-olefin having 2 to 10 carbon atoms and about 20 to about 30 wt %, based on the total weight of the precursor acid copolymer, of copolymerized units of an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 8 carbon atoms; a melt flow rate of about 10 to about 4000 g/10 min; and, when neutralized to a level of about 40% to about 90% and when comprising counterions that consist essentially of sodium cations, the precursor acid copolymer produces a sodium ionomer that has a melt flow rate of about 0.7 to about 25 g/10 min and a freeze enthalpy that is not detectable or that is less than about 3.0 j/g. Further provided are articles comprising the ionomer composition.

An antistatic styrenic polymer composition comprises 30 to 70 wt % of a styrenic polymer, 5 to 40 wt % of a potassium ionomer, 1 to 10 wt % of one or more polyols, and 2 to 20 wt % of an ethylene copolymer, based on the total weight of the styrenic polymer composition which has reduced dust absorption and improved mechanical performances. Also disclosed are articles made of the composition such as film or sheet including multilayer structure and items obtained by extrusion molding, coextrusion molding, injection molding, thermoform molding, compression molding or blow molding.

Antistatic styrenic polymer compositions and articles therefrom

A sodium/zinc mixed ionomer comprises carboxylate groups and a combination of counterions that consists essentially of sodium cations and zinc cations. The sodium/zinc mixed ionomer is the neutralization product of a precursor acid copolymer. The precursor acid copolymer comprises copolymerized units of an &#x3b1;-olefin and an &#x3b1;,&#x3b2;-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and it has a melt flow rate of about 10 to about 4000 g/10 min. In addition, the precursor acid copolymer, when neutralized to a level of about 40% to about 90%, and when comprising counterions that consist essentially of sodium ions, produces a sodium ionomer that has a freeze enthalpy that is not detectable or that is less than about 3.0 j/g, when determined by differential scanning calorimetry. Further provided are articles comprising or prepared from the sodium/zinc mixed ionomer.
