The invention relates to a method for the topographical presentation of structural alterations in an examined brain using volume data records. In line with the invention, this method is distinguished in that functional areas are mapped by extracting profiles, where the profiles record boundaries for two functional areas in the examined brain, in that the boundaries of the two functional areas are recorded by calculating a multivariant distance measurement, and in that a microstructure in the region of the boundaries of the two cortical areas is recorded and is compared with at least one microstructure in a boundary region of a reference brain. To increase the comparability of various areas in various brains taking into account the interindividual variability, it is expedient for the volume data records to be transformed to a target volume data record using an elastic registration method.

Method for topographical presentation of alterations in an examined brain

The invention relates to an imaging method. Layer or volume areas are selected by radiating high-frequency pulses and applying at least one magnetic potential field. Nuclear magnetic resonances are excited and are detected as measuring signals in said areas. According to the invention, the method is carried out in such a way that different layer or volume areas are successively selected and the corresponding measuring signals are detected by means of the magnetic potential field and that layer or volume images of the individual layer or volume areas are produced after the measuring signals for the different layer or volume areas have been detected.

Imaging method

The present invention relates to a process for examining an object, whereby properties of the object are detected at different times within a spatial frequency space formed by spatial frequencies. The process is carried out in such a way that consecutive images are recorded in overlapping areas of the spatial frequency space and, additionally, in areas of the spatial frequency space that differ from each other.

The invention relates to an imaging method for examining substances which contain atoms with an indirect nuclear spin-nuclear spin interaction. At least one excitation impulse produces a precession of at least several nuclear spins with an additional phase angle &Dgr;&phgr;&equals;&minus;&ggr; &Dgr;B &tgr; in relation to an already existing precession in an outer magnetic field so that a transversal magnetization spreads out perpendicularly in relation to the outer magnetic field whereby effecting a relaxation of the transversal magnetization with relaxation times T . The inventive method is characterized in that at least one rephasing pulse, which rephases the transversal magnetiztion, is applied after the excitation pulse and after a recording of at least one highly resolved image, and in that additional images are subsequently recorded with a lower resolution.

Magnetic resonance imaging method

The invention relates to a polarizer for noble gases comprising a glass sample cell and a pressure chanter in which the sample cell is located. High pressure and accompanying broadband or narrow-band lasers can be similarly provided in an optimal manner. To this end, the polarizer is operated at pressures of 30 bar and higher.
