In a fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines for motor vehicles, a damping device is provided to eliminate so-called vehicle bucking. The device allows rapid adjusting movements of an rpm adjusting lever, which is connected to the driving lever, to affect the supply quantity setting of the fuel injection pump only with a delay. To this end, the damping device has a damping chamber defined by a damping cylinder and a damping piston displaceable therein. The damping chamber communicates with the pump interior via two parallel throttles and via counter-parallel check valves located in series with the parallel throttles. The damping piston is connected to a damper lever on which the rpm adjusting lever is supported via a pre-stressed drag spring. The damper lever is connected via a governor spring to a governor lever, which actuates a quantity adjusting device to determine the fuel metering, so that an adjusting motion of the rpm adjusting lever acts upon the quantity adjusting device only in a delayed manner.

In a pressure valve inserted in a fuel supply conduit between a fuel injection pump and an injection vavle of the internal combustion chamber and comprising a valve member and a locking member cooperating with the valve member and opening in the direction of the fuel supply, and a back-pressure relief valve including a closing element which closes an axial bore of the locking member, a throttle orifice is provided in the connection between the axial bore of the locking member and an axial recess formed in the connection element connected to the fuel supply conduit leading to the internal combustion engine so that no after-injections occur, and a sufficiently great stable pressure is maintained in the fuel supply system.

An rpm regulator for fuel injection pumps of internal combustion engines having a starting lever, which is coupled on one side with a fuel quantity setting member and on the other side with an rpm governor, which contacts the starting lever with an rpm dependent force in opposition to an arbitrarily variable force of a main control spring, which is included in series with the main control spring and is deformable up to a first stop. A further spring, also deformable up to the first stop, is provided parallel to the starting spring for the purpose of adaptation of the fuel injection quantity. It is proposed to provide a second stop in addition to the first stop, at least in the full load range, by means of which the starting lever can be blocked in the direction of the first stop from the time an adaptation rpm is attained and before it reaches the first stop. By utilizing such an internal combustion engine in a vehicle, a smooth driving mode is attained because a positive adaptation can be switched off by means of the second stop in the full load range and thus is not effective in that range. The adaptation of the fuel injection quantity in the partial load range, however, is fully retained.
