A method and a system for image-guided intervention such as a percutaneous treatment or diagnosis of a patient may include at least one of a pre-registration method and a re-registration method. The pre-registration method is configured to permit for an efficient virtual representation of a planned trajectory to target tissue during the intervention, for example, as a holographic light ray shown through an augmented reality system. In turn, this allows the operator to align a physical instrument such as a medical probe for the intervention. The re-registration method is configured to adjust for inaccuracy in the virtual representation generated by the pre-registration method, as determined by live imaging of the patient during the intervention. The re-registration method may employ the use of intersectional contour lines to define the target tissue as viewed through the augmented reality system, which permits for an unobstructed view of the target tissue for the intervention.

System and methods for planning and performing three-dimensional holographic interventional procedures with three-dimensional tomographic and live imaging

A branched and fenestrated prosthesis may include a main tubular graft body including a proximal end opening, a distal end opening, a lumen, and a sidewall. A branch may extend from the sidewall and may include a first end opening, a second end opening, and a lumen. A fenestration may be disposed in the sidewall and positioned distal of the second end opening of the branch. System and methods are disclosed to facilitate intra-operative procedures and planning. A method can include storing tracking data in memory, the tracking data being generated by a tracking system to represent a location of an object in a tracking coordinate system of the tracking system. The method can also include storing a patient-specific implicit model in memory, the patient-specific implicit model being generated based on image data acquired for the patient to define geometry of an anatomical structure of the patient. The method can also include registering the tracking data and the patient-specific implicit model in a common three-dimensional coordinate system. The method can also include generating an output visualization representing a location of the object relative to the geometry of the anatomical structure of the patient in the common coordinate system.

Method and system to facilitate intraoperative positioning and guidance

This disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for localizing a device relative to an instrument. A sensor of the instrument can be monitored for a change in signaling during a first transition of the device relative to the instrument. The sensor can further be monitored for another change in signaling provided by the sensor of the instrument in response to a second transition of the device relative to the instrument. A transition distance difference can be determined between the first transition and the second transition. A location of the device relative to the instrument can be determined based on a location of the instrument and the transition difference distance.

Localizing a device relative to an instrument

In an example, a system is disclosed for registering an anatomical model to an anatomical structure of a patient. The system includes an anatomical measurement wire ('AMW') configured to be navigated within the anatomical structure, the AMW comprising at least one sensor. A tracking system is configured to provide tracking data representing multiple positions of the sensor in a spatial coordinate system. A computing device is configured to generate a tracking point cloud based on the tracking data. The computing device is configured to register the predetermined anatomical model with the anatomical structure of the patient by matching the tracking point cloud with the model point cloud with respect to the predetermined anatomical model based on a quality metric.

Systems and methods for registration using an anatomical measurement wire

This disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for characterizing a behavior of an anatomical structure. Tracking data can be generated by a tracking system to represent at least a location of at least one sensor in a three-dimensional tracking coordinate system over time. A motion model is generated to characterize the behavior of the anatomical structure over a plurality of time instances. For instance, the motion model includes at least one free parameter and a temporal parameter. Each free parameter estimating geometry of the anatomical structure derived from the tracking data, and the temporal parameter indexes the free parameter over the plurality of time instances. A visualization is generated to provide a sequence of graphical images based on the motion model to characterize behavior of the anatomical structure over time.

Characterizing behavior of anatomical structures

A trackable guidewire apparatus and method for use are described. Longitudinally spaced proximal and distal guidewire ends are separated by a guidewire body. A plurality of longitudinally spaced position sensors are configured to provide signals corresponding to a three-dimensional position of at least one position sensor in a coordinate system of an associated tracking system in response to an electromagnetic field/stimulus. At least one retention mechanism is provided for maintaining the medical device in a predetermined retention position longitudinally along the guidewire body. At least one stop structure is provided in a predetermined stop position longitudinally along the guidewire body.

Method and apparatus for tracking a position of a medical device

An example system is disclosed for generating a model of a tubular anatomical structure. The system includes an anatomical measurement wire ('AMW'), a tracking system and a computing device. The AMW is configured to be navigated through the anatomical structure of a patient, and the AMW includes at least one sensor. The tracking system is configured to provide tracking data representing multiple positions of the sensor in a spatial coordinate system. The computing device is configured to generate a data point cloud based on the tracking data, generate a parametric model corresponding to at least a portion of the vessel based on the data point cloud and store the parametric model in non-transitory memory.

Modeling anatomical structures using an anatomical measurement wire

An example system includes a distortion reference sensor (DRS) device attachable to a surface adjacent a region of interest within the patient. The DRS device includes at least two sensor coils arranged at a predetermined angle relative to each other and at a predetermined spatial position in a three-dimensional space relative to each other. The system also includes a computing device to determine a sensed angle and a sensed spatial position of the at least two sensor coils in the three-dimensional coordinate system in response to application of an electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic field distortion is indicated based on a difference between the predetermined angle and the sensed angle and/or the predetermined spatial position and the sensed spatial position exceeding an expected difference value.

Detection of electromagnetic field interference

Holographic image-guidance can be used to track an interventional device during a non-vascular percutaneous procedure. The holographic image guidance can be provided by a head-mounted device by transforming tracking data and body image data to a common coordinate system and creating a holographic display relative to a patient's body to track the interventional device during the non-vascular percutaneous procedure. The holographic display can also include graphics to provide guidance for the physical interventional device as it travels through the patient's anatomy.

System and method for holographic image-guided non-vascular percutaneous procedures

An interventional procedure can be performed less invasively with live 3D holographic guidance and navigation. Advantageously, the 3D holographic guidance and navigation overcomes the limitations of conventional displays of medical images on standard 2D flat panel screens. The live 3D holographic guidance can utilize a 3D holographic visualization that is derived from complementary imaging modalities (e.g., ultrasound and computed tomography) to provide a complete holographic view of a portion of the patient's body to enable navigation of a tracked interventional instrument/device.
