A system, computer software and method for collecting, in addition to position data, additional positioning data in a user terminal served by a communication network. The method includes initiating, by generating a message within the user terminal, collection of the positioning data, where the positioning data includes information based on which a physical location of the user terminal is determined; measuring, by the user terminal, at least one parameter related to the physical location of the user terminal in response to the message; producing, within the user terminal, measurement reports that include the at least one parameter; selecting, within the user terminal, one or more measurement reports that were generated in response to the message generated by the user terminal; reporting the selected one or more measurement reports to an interface within the user terminal; and transmitting, from the interface, the reported one or more measurement reports to an external server or to the communication network.

Measurement systems and methods for fingerprinting positioning

For power control in a wireless communication system, a node comprises means for obtaining power of signals received over a wireless signal channel and a power control signal unit. The power control signal unit () provides power control signals intended for the power control over the channel. A warper unit warps the power control signals by a first filter. A quantizer quantizes the warped power control signals, which are transferred to another node in the wireless communication system. The receiving node comprises a dewarper, dewarping the received signals by a second filter. The power control of the wireless signal channel is performed based on the dewarped power control signal. The filters are linear filters arranged for reducing an influence of quantization. The second filter is an inverse filter with respect to the first filter. The filters are preferably adapted by adaptors.

Wireless communication power control

An arrangement () for noise rise estimation in a wireless communication system comprises a power measuring means () for measuring received total wideband power. A means () for computing estimates of a noise floor measure bases its computation on a number of the measured received total wideband powers. A means () for calculating values of a biased noise rise measure bases its calculations on a number of received total wideband powers or an estimation derived therefrom and a respective one of the estimates of a noise floor measure. A means () for providing a measure representing a long term behaviour of the values of the biased noise rise measure is provided. A means () for obtaining a value of a present, unbiased noise rise measure, bases its function on the measure representing a long term behaviour of the values of the biased noise rise measure. A corresponding method is also disclosed.

Method and arrangements for noise rise estimation

A received total wideband power (A) in a wireless communications system is measured a number of times during a time interval. Preferably, also code powers ((C/I)) are measured, directly or indirectly. A probability distribution of a first power quantity (A,B), typically total received power is estimated from the set of measurements, preferably using Kalman filtering techniques, and preferably also a probability distribution of a second power quantity (A,B) related to noise and interference signals. A conditional probability distribution of a noise rise measure to be determined is based at least on the probability distribution of the total power (A,B). From that conditional probability distribution, a value of the noise rise measure is calculated. In a preferred embodiment, the noise rise measure is based on a quotient between total power and a noise floor, and the conditional probability distribution of the noise rise is therefore based on a conditional probability distribution of noise floor quantity (). The conditional probability distribution of the noise floor quantity () is in turn based on the probability distribution of the extreme value of a second power quantity (A,B) related to noise and interference signals and a prior determined probability distribution of a noise power floor.

Methods and arrangements for noise rise estimation

The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses as well as a measurement report signal for reporting measurements on ranging signals (RS-RS) received by a mobile station from satellites (SV-SV) or calculating a position based on such measurements, wherein each of said ranging signal comprises a stream () of data bits () spread by a spreading code (). After synchronizing () to data bit edges in the stream of data bits on a ranging signal, a position in time modulo the data bit length for said stream of data bits with respect to a selected point in time is measured (). The measured position in time could be used by the apparatus performing the measurements on the received ranging signals for calculating () the position of the mobile station. Alternatively the apparatus could transmit () a wireless signal including data representing said measured position in time, allowing the mobile station position to be determined in another apparatus ().

Method and arrangements relating to satellite-based positioning

A received total wideband power (A) in a wireless communications system is measured a number of times during a time interval. In a preferred embodiment, the noise rise measure is based on a quotient between total power and a noise floor, and the conditional probability distribution of the noise rise is therefore based on a conditional probability distribution of noise floor quantity (). The conditional probability distribution of the noise floor quantity () is in turn based on the probability distribution of the extreme value of a second power quantity (A,B) related to noise and interference signals and a prior determined probability distribution of a noise power floor.

A signal-power related quantity is estimated by repeating a processing step, where measured values of instantaneous signal powers are processed. At each relevant part step of the processing and for each relevant matrix (), elements () that are indicated to be negligibly small are changed to instead be exactly equal to zero. The computational complexity can thereby be decreased considerably. The principles are applied on determination of signal-power related quantities in wireless communications systems.

Complexity reduction in power estimation

A method, an apparatus and a computer program for providing assistance data for satellite based positioning of mobile stations operating in a first cell of a cellular radio communication system utilizing ranging signals transmitted by satellites. A sequence of assistance data for positioning of a mobile station operating in the first cell is generated () by including in said sequence assistance data associated with individual satellites in a set of at least four satellites. At least one of said set of satellites and the order in which assistance data associated with individual satellites occurs in said sequence of assistance data is selected () utilizing control data associated with the first cell and reflecting local obstructions in the first cell or its immediate surroundings affecting reception of said ranging signals in the first cell. The invention also includes a method, an apparatus and a computer program for updating () said control data utilizing information derived from positionings of mobile stations in the first cell.
