An at least four-layer tubular biaxially oriented food casing having an outer layer which includes a mixture of at least one aliphatic and at least one partly aromatic (co)polyamide with or without pigments, and an inner layer which includes aliphatic (co)polyamide, wherein, between these layers, a layer of an ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer or a blend of the ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer with an aliphatic or partly aromatic (co)polyamide and/or with an olefinic (co)polymer and/or an ionomer resin and a layer of an olefinic (co)polymer with or without adhesion promoters, pigments, and/or UV absorbers are arranged. The casing has a high water-vapor and oxygen barrier. It is particularly suitable as synthetic sausage casing, and can also be used for packaging cheese or animal feed.

Multilayered, biaxially-oriented food casing comprising two oxygen-barrier layers

The invention relates to a biaxially stretch-oriented and heat-set, single-layer or multilayer shirred stick, polyamide-based packaging casing which has a shirring density of up to 1:200, at a length of the shirred stick of from 40 to 100 cm, and to a process for producing the packaging casing.

The biaxially stretch-oriented multi-layer tubular packaging casing for packaging pasty products, in particular the artificial sausage casing, includes a barrier layer having a reduced permeability to oxygen, an outer layer and an inner layer. The barrier layer comprises a partially aromatic polyamide and/or copolyamide, the outer and inner layers an aliphatic polyamide or copolyamide or a polymer mixture of at least one of the two compounds.

A single-layered, transparent, biaxially oriented, thermoset tubular food casing, in particular a synthetic sausage casing, based on polyamide, containing a mixture of a) a linear, aliphatic polyamide, b) a partially aromatic copolyamide, c) an acid-modified polyolefin and d) a pigment of a particle size from 0.01 to 15 .mu.m results in a casing having outstanding properties such as excellent water vapor resistance and excellent UV and visible light impermeability. A process for the production of the food casing and the use thereof are also described.

Single-layered, transparent, biaxially oriented, thermoset tubular food

The monolayered, biaxially stretch-oriented and heat-set tubular packaging casing, in particular synthetic sausage casing, is crystal-clear and exhibits high resilience. It is essentially composed of a polymer mixture comprising polyamide-6 and an aromatic copolyamide comprising units of hexamethylene diamine, terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid.

Tubular polyamide casing

A multi-layered tubular synthetic sausage casing which includes an outer polyamide layer, an inner polyolefin layer and an intermediate layer for mutually bonding the inner and outer layers. The inner polyolefin layer includes a copolymer comprised of units of ethylene, propylene or straight-chain alpha-olefins having 4 to 8 carbon atoms, or of a mixture of these copolymers. In a preferred embodiment, the polyolefin layer is comprised of an ethylene/propylene/butylene terpolymer and/or of a propylene/butylene copolymer.

A polyamide-based multilayered tubular packaging casing for pasty matter, in particular a synthetic sausage casing, is disclosed having an outer layer comprised of aliphatic polyamide, aliphatic copolyamide or a polymer blend comprising at least one of these compounds, an intermediate layer that is impermeable to water vapor and comprised of a polyolefin and an adhesion-promoting agent, and an inner layer that is preferably impermeable to oxygen and comprised of aliphatic and/or partially aromatic polyamides and/or aliphatic and/or partially aromatic copolyamides.

Multilayered tubular packaging casing

A tubular, biaxially stretch-oriented packaging film, in particular a sausage casing, comprising a polymer mixture which comprises an aliphatic polyamide, a polyterephthalic acid ester, an aromatic polyamide comprising branched aliphatic diamines having at least 7 carbon atoms and aromatic dicarboxylic acids, or aromatic diamines and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids having 5 to 11 carbon atoms and a dye. The weight amount of the aromatic polyamide is preferably equal to, and particularly preferably greater than, the weight amount of dye. A masterbatch suitable for producing the film is also disclosed. With particular advantage, the film having the above described composition can be dyed deep black or brilliant red.

An improved non-reinforced cellulose film is disclosed. The film is useful as a sausage casing. When exposed to water the casing shrinks in the transverse or circumferential direction, so that the sausages look plump and crease-free and the casing can be peeled easily from the enclosed sausage meat. The film is made by moistening a non-reinforced cellulose film, drawing the film in the transverse direction, and drying the film in the stretched state.

A web-shaped or tubular packaging film for use in food packaging applications, particularly as a sausage casing, is comprised of a carrier layer based on fiber-reinforced celulose and a closed thermoplastic, sealable resin coating based on copolymers containing vinylidene chloride (VDC) units. To improve the kink resistance, this resin coating is built up from at least two superposed layers, the first resin coating layer adjacent to the carrier layer being composed of a VDC copolymer forming flexible films and the outer, second resin coating layer being composed of a VDC copolymer forming rigid films. The web-shaped film is suitable for the production of tubular packaging casings, in particular sausage casings, with a longitudinal seam.

Disclosed is a film of fiber-reinforced regenerated cellulose having on one surface thereof a gas-impermeable layer and on the other surface thereof a gas-permeable layer, the gas-permeable layer comprising a plurality of linear discontinuities running parallel to one another, distributed across the surface of the layer. Preferably, both the gas-permeable layer and the gas-impermeable layer comprise a vinylidene group-containing copolymer. Also disclosed is a process for producing the film and a seamed tubular casing, preferably a sausage casing, made from the film.

Disclosed is a tubular casing of fiber-reinforced regenerated cellulose comprising a film web which is curved to form a tube. The edge regions of the film web, which run parallel to the longitudinal axis, abut or overlap slightly and are sealed by means of a film strip which covers both the edge regions. The film web and the film strip composed of the same material have, in the wet remoistened stage, a breaking strength of about 15 to 30 N/mm.sup.2 and an elongation at break of about 30 to 50% in the longitudinal direction of the web, and a breaking strength of about 15 to 35 N/mm.sup.2 and an elongation at break of about 30 to 50% in the transverse direction of the web. The breaking strength in the transverse direction of the web is equal to or greater than that in the longitudinal direction of the web. On its entire surface facing the film strip, the tubular casing has a substantially gas-impermeable and sealable layer, as has the film strip on the surface which comes into contact with the tubular casing. The film web is produced from viscose, and is prevented from shrinking during the process and is stretched in the transverse direction during drying. The tubular casing finds particular application as a sausage casing.

Disclosed is a tubular casing comprising a fiber-reinforced regenerated cellulose wherein the fiber-reinforcement comprises a fiber web comprising first and second edge regions, parallel to the longitudinal axis, which are overlapped and bonded to form a tube; an impregnation layer of a thermoplastic synthetic resin applied on the entire inwardly-facing surface of the fiber-reinforcement and present in a weight per unit area of less than about 50 g/m.sup.2, the impregnation layer comprising the bond for the edge regions; and a regenerated cellulose surface on the outer surface of the fiber-reinforcement. Tubular casing suitable for foodstuffs and process for its manufacture

Disclosed is a tubular casing of fiber-reinforced regenerated cellulose comprising a film web which is curved to form a tube. The edge regions of the film web, which run parallel to the longitudinal axis, abut or overlap slightly and are sealed by means of a film strip which covers both the edge regions.
