Controllable electrical resistor

The invention relates to a temperature sensor having a first FET transistor circuit and a second FET transistor circuit and also to a method for operating a temperature sensor. Both FET transistor circuits are operated at an operating point that lies outside the temperature-independent operating point. The difference between the voltages at the first and second FET transistor circuits is evaluated as a measure of the temperature at one of the FET transistor circuits. The invention enables the temperature sensor to provide a relatively large output signal even in the case of only small changes in temperature.

Temperature sensor and method for operating a temperature sensor

An electronic output module, especially an electronic output module for CMOS-LVDS levels (LVDS-low voltage differential signalling), is suitable for analogue and digital high-frequency circuits. The output module has a first and a second transistor which are connected to a current source at a first connection and to input terminals by a control connection. A third and a fourth transistor are connected to a supply voltage potential by a first connection, to a second connection of the first and second transistors, and to an output terminal by a second connection and to converted input signals by a control connection.

Electronic output stage

The transmission device comprises at least one laser transmitter ( ) which emits light ( ) as a function of binary data signals ( ) which are to be transmitted, and a monitor receiver ( ) which receives part of the emitted light ( ) and converts it to a monitor current (I ). A control circuit regulates the mean optical output power (P ) of the laser transmitter to a constant value on the basis of a DC prescribed value (VDC) by evaluating the monitor current (I ), the prescribed value (VDC) being obtained by tuning and being permanently stored in a read only memory (FSP) in the course of the tuning.

Optical transmission device

A digital controller for a laser driver has a register for storing control data that serve to control an analog circuit of the laser driver. A first interface receives operating data from a local memory. A second interface receives external user data. A control unit controls the data communication between the first and second interfaces and the register. The digital controller thus takes over the trimming process and other communication and control functions of the laser driver. The required information for this is contained in the operating and/or user data.

A temperature sensor has a first FET transistor circuit, whose operating point is located at the temperature-independent point, and a second FET transistor circuit whose operating point is above this point. The voltage difference in this case depends essentially linearly on the temperature. In addition, a circuit for controlling the gain of an amplifier circuit is provided, in which the current through the amplifier circuit at low temperatures is reduced by an appropriate control of the gate voltage of a transistor serving as a current source, so that an amplification which is substantially independent of temperature is carried out.

A device for adjusting laser diodes includes a pilot signal adjustment device for adjusting the signal current using a pilot signal frequency that is modulated onto the signal current. The device includes a bias direct current source supplying the laser diode with a bias direct current. A switching device switches the adjustment device between a state where the pilot signal adjustment device is connected to the modulator and the bias direct current source such that the signal current can be adjusted using the pilot signal adjustment device, and another state where the modulator is connected to the temperature compensation device such that the signal flow can be adjusted and/or controlled by the temperature compensation device.

Control device for laser diodes

A differential amplifier has two amplifier paths. The second amplifier path is operated in the opposite direction relative to the first amplifier path. The outputs of the two amplifier paths form a differential output and are in each case connected to one another via a respective load resistor at a node. The operating point of the two amplifier paths is set by the voltage that is present at the node. The differential load is divided into two individual resistors and the voltage present between the individual resistors serves for setting the operating point of the amplifier paths. The bandwidth and the gain can be influenced by varying the resistances of the load resistors.

Differential, complementary amplifier

A phase detector device and a clock regeneration device for phase centering when incoming data are sampled at a clock rate, which is in particular substantially half the size of the high clock rate of the incoming data, are provided. The device includes a plurality of flip-flops. The phase detector and the clock regeneration device further include correction devices for producing a correction signal. The correction signal can be passed to an integrator in which a control signal for an oscillator can be produced from the correction signal and the output signals of the first, second and third weighting devices. The clock rates of the first and the second clock signals correspond to substantially half the high clock rate. The phase of the first clock signals is shifted by 180&deg; with respect to the phase of the second clock signals.

Phase detector and clock regeneration device

An electronic driver circuit for directly modulated semiconductor lasers is described. The drive circuit has a first circuit for generating a constant current and a second circuit for modulating the constant current. The second circuit generates, as a function of a digital data signal, a modulation current that is superimposed on the constant current, the modulated current being fed to a semiconductor laser. According to the invention, a third circuit is additionally provided which keeps the driver circuit at a low impedance during a rising edge and/or a falling edge of the current through the semiconductor laser. As a result, the signal shape of the optical output signals of the semiconductor laser can be improved, and the driver circuit can be operated at higher data rates, in particular at data rates of up to 12 Gbit/s.

Electronic driver circuit for directly modulated semiconductor lasers

The device and method compensate for propagation differences between n serial data streams each transmitted over parallel optical lines. Data that can be transmitted via the n serial data streams are configured as m-bit words. The device has n regeneration devices in which data of the data stream can be regenerated. A data output and a clock pulse output of the regeneration devices are connected to a propagation time control device so that the regenerated data and the regenerated clock pulse can be transmitted to a data input or to a clock pulse input of the propagation time control devices. The propagation time control devices each have a demultiplexer for dividing the regenerated data as well as the regenerated clock pulses with a ratio of 1:(x&middot;m), and each have an alignment device for distributing the divided regenerated data on x&middot;m parallel data outputs of the propagation time control devices.

Device and method for compensating for propagation delay

The circuit has a push-pull end stage which acts as an amplifier stage for digital signals. The push-pull end stage has two n-channel MOS transistors which function as source followers and two p-channel MOS transistors which also function as source followers. The gate terminals of the respective n-channel MOS transistors and p-channel MOS transistors are each controlled by an operational amplifier through drivers. A voltage that determines the setpoint value of the high level of the output of the push-pull end stage is present at the non-inverting input of one operational amplifier and a voltage that determines the low level of the output of the push-pull end stage is present at the inverting input of the other operational amplifier. The operational amplifiers interact with feedback elements in such a way that the high level or the low level of the gate voltages of the n-channel and p-channel transistors are controlled at an essentially constant value independently of the operating state of the push-pull end stage.

Push-pull output stage for digital signals with regulated output levels

The invention relates to a high-speed output driver having at least one CMOS inverter (IN ), acting as an amplifier for high-frequency digital signals, which has an n-channel transistor (T ) and a complimentary p-channel transistor (T ) connected in series with it. According to the invention, switch means are provided, which are connected to sensor elements for detecting parameters of the transistors (T , T ), and which as a function of the detected parameters control or regulate the output current and the output resistance of the driver to a substantially constant value. In this way, a high-speed output driver with substantially constant outset conditions is made available. (FIG. )
