The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for producing veneer strips, chipped wood or the like, individual pieces of wood being joined together, with grains parallel, to form a group and then a multiplicity of such groups being arranged one behind the other, with grains parallel, to form a closely packed line, whereupon this line is then fed in its longitudinal direction, transverse to the wood-grain direction, to a chipping tool. In order, during the chipping operation, largely to prevent the accumulation of coarse chips, it is proposed according to the invention that the leading group conveyed up against the chipping tool is subjected, via the following group butting against it, to a longitudinal compressive force which acts in the longitudinal direction of the line, which exceeds the relative cutting force to which the leading group is subjected by the chipping tool, and which is largely absorbed by the leading group, which, by way of its advancement speed being braked, acts as an abutment.

Process and apparatus for producing veneer strips, chipped wood or the like

The invention relates to a process and apparatus for producing veneer strips of predetermined length, width and thickness from wood. The apparatus has a severing tool for dividing the wood to be machined into boards, a clamp for clamping the boards, and a machining device for machining the clamped boards into veneer strips.

Process and apparatus for producing narrow veneer strips

A long-timber chipping machine has a timber feed channel for receiving longitudinally arranged timbers, advanced using a timber-advancing device to a vertically movable chipping device positioned at the downstream end of the feed channel. The chipping device has a rotatable cutter ring equipped with chipping cutters on its cylindrical inner wall, which defines a chipping chamber. The chamber is aligned with the downstream end of the feed channel. To improve the chipping, a curved timber-receiving plate projects into the chipping chamber from the downstream end of the feed channel, which also has a matching curved base. The curvature of the plate and the base match the curvature of upper cylindrical inner wall of the cutter ring so that the upper cylindrical inner wall can be lowered closely to the plate, leaving only a very small clearance and exposing all of the timbers to the chipping cutters. To better guide the timbers into the chipping chamber, the chipping device includes two vertical side walls attached to the housing that shields the chipper ring. These side walls extend into the chipping chamber and spaced apart so that the plate is positioned between the side walls and allow the side walls to move as the chipping device is vertically displaced.

A blade mounting for a chipper blade of a wood-chipping machine, the chipper blade having a back and a fore-part, the blade mounting including: a disk coverplate having an inner slope which bears against the back of the chipper blade; a blade holder having at least two grooves which are oriented perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the blade holder and parallel to a plane of the chipper blade, the blade holder bearing against the fore-part of the chipper blade; adjusting screws located in the grooves in the blade holder; and dogs for underpinning a bottom edge of the chipper blade at at least two locations, the dogs being adjusted by the adjusting screws.

A process and a device for the continuous chipping of timbers of different length. To increase the chipping performance, in the execution of the sawing cut or directly thereafter, at least one supporting element for supporting the leading end face of a long timber pack and the posterior end face of a short timber pack is directed into the sawing plane. Directly adjoining the short timber pack, a just sawn-off short timber pack, together with the supporting element enclosed between them, is conveyed forward by one advancement cycle in the same direction. The supporting element, following the conclusion of the advancement cycle, is conveyed back into the directing-in area of the sawing plane, and each short timber pack is supportingly transported, free from any structural distortion, up to the chipping tool.

Process and device for the continuous chipping of long timbers

A method and apparatus for setting the knife projection of regrindable, strip-shaped cutting tools which are each screwed releasably to a knife carrier (8) and which are releasably arranged together with the carrier, in an at least approximately radial direction, in the rotary-drivable disk (1) of a disk-type cutter. To simplify the operation and to improve the chip quality: first, each knife (4) of the disk (1) is set outside the disk-type cutter, in a single setting device, to a respective identical distance between the cutting edge (10) and the inner longitudinal edge (11) of the knife carrier (8) and is then screwed firmly to the associated knife carrier (8); second, after being installed in the disk (1), the knives (4) are successively oriented and fixed relative to a common plane (39) which is perpendicular to the disk axis (5) and which defines the first-cut face of the wood during the cutting (cutting plane); and third, the knife adjustment is carried out in such a way that the knife projection of each cutting edge ( 10) relative to the flight circle of the disk surface (3) increases outward in the radial direction over the knife length.

The invention relates to a process and to a device for producing a coherent web from long slivers which are produced by breaking-up the raw material fed and are then compacted to give a web which is subsequently glued and then pressed together with other webs to give blocks or the like. The raw material used is sticks or slabs which are split parallel to the fibers by vertically oscillating cutting motions, to give long slivers which are then compacted by ramming to give a web.

The apparatus includes a conventional beater mill equipped with a vertical or horizontal rotating beater wheel which has arranged on one or both sides of the stationary crushing path several magazines for storing wear plates and striking bars. The replacement of the wear plates and the striking bars is done by suitably constructed slide members.
