A control device for Diesel engines is proposed in which a rapid shutoff of the engine can be effected by evacuating the suction chamber of the injection pump. The control device includes a supply pump and a reversal valve, which in a stop position connects the suction chamber with the intake side of the supply pump and connects the compression side of the supply pump with the fuel tank. A check valve is provided in the supply line between the supply pump and the fuel filter which, when closed, is vacuum-tight; this check valve is disposed to open toward the filter, counter to the force of a valve closing spring. Another check valve, comprising an overflow valve determining the suction chamber pressure, is provided in an overflow line leading from the suction chamber to the fuel tank; this overflow valve is also vacuum-tight when closed. When the reversal valve is actuated by an electromagnet, a similar key-actuated shutoff to that known in gasoline engines can also be effected in Diesel engines. The circuitry of this embodiment also enables an involuntary 'rolling start' to be blocked, and allows for a fail-safe shutoff of the engine in case of a malfunction in the governor shutoff device.

Control device for shutting off a diesel engine

An apparatus is proposed for the open-loop control of the composition of the operating mixture to be introduced into the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine. In this apparatus, the dispensing of the aspirated air quantity is effected by means of an aspirated air throttle device, whose displacement complementarily adjusts the cross section of an exhaust gas recirculation line which discharges into the intake system downstream from this throttle device. The opening of the aspirated air throttle device in order to increase the quantity of aspirated air is effected by means of a control pressure delivered to a servomotor, counter to the force of a restoring spring. The control pressure is obtained from the comparison of the actual quantity of aspirated air with the fuel injection quantity. The initial pressure for establishing the control pressure is the supply pressure of a supply pump supplying the fuel metering device. In order to prevent the throttle device for aspirated air from being moved into the closed position during starting of the engine, an additional adjusting device, also actuated by fuel supply pressure, is provided. When supply pressure is absent, this adjusting device moves the aspirated air throttle device into the opening direction counter to the restoring force. At the same time, the outlet opening of the exhaust recirculation line is closed as a result.

Control for operating mixture in internal combustion engines

A measuring and/or tracing device is of the kind having a vertical column, a transverse sliding unit secured to the column and movable in a vertical direction, a cross arm held by said unit and movable horizontally, a holder on the end of the said cross arm for a measuring and/or tracing tool, and a counterweight being disposed inside the column so that it can move freely and being attached to the transverse sliding unit by a cable passing over a guide roller at the upper end of the column. The improvement comprises a safety braking device attached to the transverse sliding unit and acting in conjunction with external surfaces of the column, to which braking device the cable is secured, and which in consequence of the cable tension exerted, is held in a disengaged position out of contact with the outer surfaces of the column, but which, when the cable tension falls, drops automatically into the braking position and engages by gripping rollers or balls with the outer surfaces of the column, thereby preventing movement.

Measuring and/or tracing device

A measuring and/or tracing device is of the kind having a vertical column, a transverse sliding unit secured to the column and movable in a vertical direction, a cross arm held by said unit and movable horizontally, a holder on the end of the said cross arm for a measuring and/or tracing tool, and a counterweight to balance the transverse sliding unit, said counterweight being disposed inside the column so that it can move freely and being attached to the transverse sliding unit by a cable passing over a guide roller at the upper end of the column. The improvement comprises a safety braking device attached to the transverse sliding unit and acting in conjunction with external surfaces of the column, to which braking device the cable is secured, and which in consequence of the cable tension exerted, is held in a disengaged position out of contact with the outer surfaces of the column, but which, when the cable tension falls, drops automatically into the braking position and engages with the outer surfaces of the column, thereby preventing movement.

A slide bar for guiding the carriage of a measuring or tracing device along a side of a levelling plate. The slide bar includes a guide rail which is divided into a first strip and a second strip having respective guide faces, the first and second strips being connected by a connector capable of acting as a biaxial joint, and the second strip being positionable adjustably with respect to the levelling plate by means of securing devices and distance pieces such that it may be brought exactly into parallelism with a reference line on the levelling plate.
