Disclosed is a lower receiver that defines an aperture extending between a bolt stop well and an actuator well, the lower receiver including a bolts stop and a first actuator lever on one side of the lower receiver and a bolt stop actuator that includes a tooth that extends through the aperture, a second bolt release lever on the other side of the lower receiver and a rod connecting the tooth and the second bolt release lever, wherein the tooth engages the bolt stop so that actuation of the second bolt release lever moves the bolt stop and where the first and second release levers move in unison.

The present disclosure pertains generally to cam pins for rotating bolt firearms. In certain aspects, the present disclosure provides cam pins having a curved profile along a portion of the cam pin that contacts sides of a cam slot in a bolt carrier. Disclosed is a bolt assembly that may include several lands that extend along the forward end of the bolt assembly that occupy only about 1 percent to about 12 percent of the surface area of the forward end. Also disclosed is a bolt carrier that defines a cam path that includes an increased unlock dwell time of approximately twice the unlock dwell time provided by a cam path shaped like a standard M-16 cam path. A firearm assembly for a firearm can include a monolithic rail platform with a handguard portion and an upper receiver portion. The barrel of the firearm can be positioned through the handguard portion and secured with the upper receiver portion. A firearm assembly can also include a bolt assembly with a bolt carrier having minimized land area and a forward end sized for receipt in the barrel extension at the rearward end of the barrel.

An improved bolt carrier for a firearm is provided that improves the overall reliability and performance of the firearm bolt assembly. The bolt carrier includes a bolt with a body having a number of lugs extending therefrom. The lugs are integrally connected to the body and define a fillet extending between a sidewall of the lug and the outer surface of the body of the bolt. The bolt also includes an extractor pivotably engaged in a recess formed in the bolt. The extractor has a pair of flanges configured to engage a pair of springs disposed on either side of a firing pin bore extending through the bolt.
