A grounding brush assembly includes a plurality of conductive fibers extending from at least one support, a mounting plate having a first side and a second side and an opening configured to surround a rotatable motor shaft having an axis of rotation, and a plurality of tabs disposed in a circle around the periphery. Each of the tabs extends axially from the first side of the mounting plate and radially toward or away from the axis of rotation to define with an adjacent portion of the first side of the mounting plate a U-shaped bracket. The at least one support is secured against the first side of the mounting plate by the plurality of tabs.

Fiber grounding brush assembly

A bearing assembly having a conductive medium. The bearing unit is mountable on a shaft and includes a bearing unit including a radially inner bearing ring including a radially inner race, wherein the radially inner bearing ring is rotatable with the shaft. The bearing unit further includes a radially outer bearing rings including a radially outer race, wherein the radially outer bearing ring is stationary with respect to the shaft; and a plurality of rolling elements supported to roll between the radially inner race of the radially inner bearing ring and the radially outer race of the radially outer bearing ring. An annular chamber body is disposed adjacent the bearing unit. A conductive medium is disposed within the chamber body.

A grounding brush includes a wire extending along an arc, a plurality of conductive fibers each bent into a U-shape around the wire, and at least one support including a channel crimped about the fibers and wire to secure them to the channel. An assembly includes a mounting plate having an opening configured to surround a rotatable motor shaft having an axis of rotation, a plurality of tabs disposed in a circle around the periphery, each of the tabs extending axially from the first side of the mounting plate and radially toward the axis of rotation to define with an adjacent portion of the first side of the mounting plate a U-shaped bracket and a grounding brush mounted in the plurality of U-shaped brackets with the conductive fibers extending radially inward or outward. Also a method of mounting and adjusting the grounding brush in the assembly.

A rolling-element bearing includes a first ring element, a second ring element, a plurality of rolling elements rotatably disposed between the first ring element and the second ring element, and an electrically insulating layer on a surface of the first ring element. The electrically insulating layer is a ceramic layer containing a mixture of aluminum oxide (AlO) and titanium oxide, and the insulating layer includes titanium compounds that contain reduced titanium oxide (TiO) and/or metallic titanium (Ti), and the insulating layer further includes a cured synthetic resin sealer.

Rolling-element bearing including an electrically insulating layer

An insulating device is for a bearing mountable within a housing and includes a generally annular metallic body configured to couple with an outer ring of the bearing so as to be mounted to the bearing when the bearing is separate from a housing. The body includes an axial portion, the axial portion having an inner circumferential surface disposable about the outer ring outer surface and an opposing outer circumferential surface, and first and second radial portions each disposable against a separate one of the outer ring axial ends. At least one oxide layer is formed on at least one of the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the body axial portion so as to substantially prevent electrical flow between the bearing and the housing.

Electrical insulating device for bearings
