A receptacle for motor vehicles. f.i. an ash tray, comprises a drawer movably supported with a housing between an open and a closed position, a releasable locking means for holding the drawer in its closed position and spring means for moving the drawer in its open position upon release of the locking means. In order to prevent a fast opening under the action of the springs and consequent impact on an abutment in the end position a damper means is provided between drawer and housing which retards the opening movement of the drawer.

This invention provides a fastening device for roof racks which is clamped only on one side of a car. The fastening comprises a support bar 10, a rigid leg 12 which embraces one of the lateral rails 2 which make up the roof of the car and a second leg 13 which is adjustably attached to the other lateral rail.

This invention relates to switching apparatus for mechanical remote control of the gear box of the motor vehicle. A gear lever 1 is connected to one end of a gear selector rod 4 such that movement of the gear lever can cause axial or rotary movement of the rod. A two arm intermediate link 5 is connected to the other end of rod 4 for movement therewith. One arm is operatively connected to main gear shaft 13 by a link (10, 11 and 12) while the other arm is operatively connected to main gear shaft 13 by a link (6, 15, 16-19, 22, 24, 25, 30 and 31). The first mentioned link converts the rotary movement of rod 4 into longitudinal movement of shaft 13, while the second link converts axial movement of rod 4 into rotary movement of shaft 13. The two links are so arranged so as to take up or absorb vibrational or other movement transmitted from the gear box so as to reduce or avoid vibration of gear lever 1.

A combustion engine having at least one outlet passage for expulsion of the burned gases. The outlet passage terminates at the outer surface of the engine and communicates with an exhaust pipe connected to the outer surface by a flange and an intervening gasket. A tubular liner is arranged in the outlet passage and forms an annular cavity together with the wall of the passage. The liner extends free from the outlet passage through the gasket and the flange into the adjoining exhaust pipe.
