Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture to extend brake life cycle are disclosed herein. An example vehicle includes a first brake associated with a first wheel of the vehicle, a second brake associated with a second wheel of the vehicle, memory, and a brake controller to execute instructions to detect a first parking event, determine, via a first sensor, a condition of the vehicle, access, from the memory, a record of a second parking event including an activation of the first brake, the second parking event preceding the first parking event, and in response to determining the condition satisfies a threshold, engage the second brake without engaging the first brake.

Methods and apparatus to extend brake life cycle

A braking system for a motor vehicle includes a hydraulic service brake for braking the motor vehicle in driving operation, an electric parking brake for holding the motor vehicle at a standstill, and an electronic control system for automatically controlling the parking brake and the service brake. The electronic control system may be adapted to activate the parking brake, with the service brake activated, after the motor vehicle has been braked to the standstill via the activated service brake, and to at least partly deactivate the activated service brake after the parking brake has been activated. The electronic control system may also be adapted to deactivate the activated parking brake following operation of an accelerator pedal of the motor vehicle.

The disclosure relates to a brake system for a vehicle, said brake system comprising a brake for securing the vehicle, wherein the brake comprises an actuator for actuating the brake. It is proposed to directly electrically connect an electrical connection for external energy sources to the actuator of the brake with the result that preferably only the actuator is externally supplied with electrical energy. Furthermore, the disclosure proposes a vehicle having the brake system, and a method for operating the brake system.

A method for operating a braking apparatus with a service and parking brake function, which braking apparatus can be applied both in a hydraulic manner by means of a hydraulic pressure generator and by means of an electromechanical force generator. A transfer takes place from the pressure generator, which exerts the hydraulic brake application, to the force generator, which exerts the electromechanical brake application, as soon as the braking torque is active at the braking apparatus. During the transfer, the braking torque, which is applied by the hydraulic pressure generator and the braking torque which is applied by the electromechanical force generator, is at least as high as the braking torque applied solely by the hydraulic pressure generator before the transfer.

Method for operating a braking apparatus with a service and parking brake function

Methods and systems are described for providing feedback in the event of a lane deviation of a vehicle having a power steering system. Vehicle data, such as speed, a steering angle, and the like, may be acquired (e.g., from a sensor system of the vehicle). An activation signal may be generated based on the acquired data. A haptic warning may then be generated using the power steering system of the vehicle based on the activation signal.

In one example, vehicle brakes are held to reduce the possibility of vehicle motion and stopping of engine rotation is prevented until confirmation of vehicle hold is present. The approach may allow an engine to remain in an off state for a longer period of time while reducing the possibility of vehicle motion.

Methods and systems for operating a stop/start engine

A system and method for controlling an automatic stop-start system of an automotive vehicle is disclosed. The system monitors the status of the parking brake to determine if the parking brake is in a state of transition between an applied state and a released state (in either direction). If the parking brake is in a state of transition, then the automatic re-starting of the engine is inhibited until the parking brake is no longer in a state of transition.
